Blue is the colour of my world today.

Reaching out for heaven, finding only misty clouds.
Stars that twinkle brightly, then dim as they grow near.
In shadows dwell the answers. I hold them close, yet like raindrops in a river, they blend and wash away.

1 I Used To Be A Flapper

Have you ever seen those older ladies who don’t dress their age? I don’t mean that they’re sporting skinny jeans and piercings – I mean they’re fully made up and wearing the clothes they wore when they were young and desirable. Depending on their era, it might be a poodle skirt and twin set or a flapper dress and feathered headband.

I want to be like that when I grow up. Never forgetting the time when I was a bit of a bombshell. When heads turned to see “the girl in the hat.” When I knew how to flirt but not be a tease. When I was the centre of attention and loving every moment.

That is a gift that takes a lot of confidence to pull off. I hope I remember how I danced like tomorrow wasn’t coming. How I had the world in my hands and I was never letting go.

The dress and headpiece I’m wearing are from Salt & Pepper at the Vintage & Cool Fair. No, they’re not the era I grew up in, but they evoked the memory of a time when I was the dancer, and not just (re)tired.

Too Awesome To Be A Horror Movie Victim

1 Lost In The Mist 2

I heard something the other day that made me laugh.

I would be the first person to die in a horror movie. I refuse to spend my last minutes running. Screw that.

Apparently there is also a correlation between wearing matching bra and panties and being a serial killer’s victim, but I’m not showing off my undies today, so we’ll just stick to the horror movie story.

No, my outfit isn’t really the best wardrobe for a walk through a misty forest, but that seems to be the case for most horror movie victims. The skirt is too short, the heels are too high, the top is too tiny but damn, I look good! I couldn’t resist a peep over my shoulder to see if I could figure out what is making those growly noises behind me, but honestly, I don’t think I want to know. Is that a shadow near that tree, or is it a hockey-mask-wearing freak just waiting to slash me – and I don’t mean with a high stick!

If I can just make it into the mist, I think I can blend in and very possibly – hopefully – get out of the woods alive.

Shiny Shabby has opened once again and you need (I do mean need) this denim skirt from Apple May Designs. The fit and textures are superb and you can even change the colour of your belt to match your outfit. !bang has also stepped up with not just a singles pose pack (including mirrors) but a sweet friend’s pose as well. Go forth and shop. You’re way too awesome to be a horror movie victim.
