Where Winter Ends

There is no place more desolate than your thoughts when alone in the middle of a long, cold winter. The darkness and dreariness of the season can drive you deeper into this wilderness created by your isolation. Stark, quiet and desolate, it can seem as if there is no way that spring will come.

But a blast of colour, an instant of positive outlook can bring you closer to that moment.

The colour, in this case, is provided by the Brenda dress from Salt & Pepper for Tannenbaum 2017. It comes in a variety of colours and trim choices, but I chose red – the colour of life and merriment.

It is the colour that brings me to where winter ends.

Every year, I say this: “Even after (fill in the blank) years in Australia, it doesn’t feel like Christmas in the middle of summer.”

This year will be my 18th year here and that hasn’t changed one bit. On Friday at work, a couple of the women in my office started putting up small Christmas trees on their desks. Mind you, it was around 30C degrees (86F), so I just shook my American head and went back to proofing.

When I logged into Second Life today, I started putting together a room for my post. It was non-seasonal when I began, but somehow, the Christmas Spirit seemed to call my name. That led me to Tannenbaum 2017 and a little festivity began to creep into my setting. I decided that these new holiday things would compliment items already in my inventory from [ keke ], Kuro and {what next}.

I haven’t gone full-blown Festivus yet, but I’m well on my way with my Christmas deco prep.

Now that Thanksgiving is over, it is officially time for snuggle-wear. This is definitely an outfit I would wear – everyday! The sweater combo from neve is available at The Liaison Collaborative through November 30 and it comes in tons of colour and texture options. You will want all of them, just like me, if you are a snuggle lover like I am. The shoes and socks from Mosquito’s Way (also available at The Liaison Collaborative) are another staple you will need to add to your wardrobe. What I love about Mosquito’s Way is the texture HUD that comes with all of the shoes.
