I did a quick inventory search on “chairs” yesterday. I was shocked at how many returns I had! From comfy, deep armchairs to straight-backed wooden chairs to cushy and not-so-cushy stools, I’ve got more than I could ever use and many I forgot I had. Some are gacha prizes, others from furniture sets, several are pose props but most are just single chairs that I saw and had to have. I rezzed out a few for this photograph – I could have included a lot more, but hey, I’ve got to do the credits 😉

Oddly enough, while I love home furnishings in Second Life, my avatar rarely sits, unless I’m posing for a picture. I find it strange that even when having friends over for a visit, we usually end up standing around, rather than sitting down for a chat. It’s not like there isn’t at least 100 places to sit on the island. And it’s also not like I couldn’t rez at least a few dozen different chairs or sofas or cushions or benches if what I have displayed wasn’t to my guest’s liking. I have noticed this when I visit other people’s homes, as well.

Is it a common SL phenomenon? Or am I just lacking in social graces? Do you sit when hanging around at home or going to see other people? Do you think people might be more likely to sit if I didn’t have my chairs in a pile?
