What it all comes down to is balance when you’re walking on glass. You need to weigh each step carefully, never rush and don’t forget to look around. Sometimes in our haste to hurry through what might be a difficult task we fail to see the beauty surrounding us.

Occasionally, if we’re wise, we’ll pause and discover the loveliness that is right in front of us.

A Slightly Twisted Surprise

I did a little shopping yesterday. Well, maybe I did more than a little. I hit Fifty Linden Fridays, FaMESHed and The Dressing Room Fusion. While I did make purchases at all three events, I really didn’t go overboard – yeah, I’m surprised too! And after getting dressed up in some of my goodies, I needed a location to shoot. I had seen several photos on Flickr of Slightly Twisted and decided it was the perfect place. Wouldn’t you know it, in a surprise worthy of the sim name, I found myself shooting more landscapes than photos of myself – there’s a first!

This place is simply enchanting. It is filled with little creatures and vignettes, lovingly crafted. I simply could not choose a favourite location to photograph, so I just kept snapping at every turn. I’m not going to flood this post with a lot of the pictures; go, visit, and discover for yourself.

Ladies’ Day At The Races

The sun has set on Australia on the day of the Race That Stops The Nation. The Melbourne Cup, Australia’s premier horse race is an event which finds Melbourne (and much of Victoria) taking a holiday for the race and most businesses across the country coming to a standstill while the race is run. It’s a day where ladies turning out in their finery, complete with hats or fascinators, are as much an institution as the race itself.

Today’s race was won by Fiorente, a stallion ridden by a male jockey, but he was trained by Gai Waterhouse – the first Australian woman to train a Melbourne cup winner.

I had joked earlier in the day that I needed to find a hat so I could do a Melbourne Cup post, but I really hadn’t planned on following through. That is, until I received this dress and knew it was perfect for a garden party – or the social event of the Melbourne Cup Spring Carnival. So, hat shopping I went, since a girl can’t show up with her head bared for this party.

The dress is available on Tuesday, November 5 (out now as I post this) in front of the Liv Glam store for only 50L for the SLebrity SLection Street Sale. With three versions in one HUD, you don’t want to miss out.

Not every day is Race Day, and not every day do you have a chance to cross the line with a dazzling frock like this.
