So Not A Fashion Model

1 So Not A Fashion Model

I have never considered myself a fashion blogger. That’s probably ironic since I mainly blog Second Life fashion. But other than Johnfrancis Laville of JfL Hats, I don’t blog for any fashion designers, other than those who are in the few events I blog for. And Johnfrancis is primarily a men’s designer.

So imagine my surprise when I received notification that I had been nominated for an Avi Choice Award for Favorite Fashion Blogger. I was stunned, shocked even, and not just a little bit excited. I never imagined that I would receive a nomination for an award for my blogging. I have always just done it because it is fun. I have always tried to blog only when I felt that I could do justice to what I was blogging, whether it is home & garden, poses, a location or fashion, and that is why I haven’t been blogging as frequently as I used to. I am usually too tired during the week to do a photograph justice, so I content myself with a couple of shoots on the weekend that I can live with. Even then, more shots end up in the bin than land on this page.

Voting opened yesterday for the Avi Choice Awards. I am honoured to be in the company of nominees such as Strawberry Singh, Harper Beresford, Love Trill, Lucie Bluebird, Oakley Foxtrot and of course, my lil Cao. Many of the other 29 bloggers I have never had the fortune to read. But I am humbled to be in the company of those who inspired someone enough to nominate them.

I have no idea who nominated me. Whomever it was, I thank you. I am under no illusion that I will win, but I am touched by the recognition of being someone’s Favourite Fashion Blogger, especially considering I am so NOT a fashion model ❤

Voting is open until 3pm SLT on December 8th. If you would like to cast your vote, you can do it on the Avi Choice Fashion Awards blog.

The Tears of a Clown

1 Tears of a Clown_004

Now there’s some sad things known to man
But ain’t too much sadder than
the tears of a clown
When there’s no one around, oh yeah

Smokey Robinson – “The Tears Of A Clown”

Smokey sang about the loss of a love in this song, but these particular lyrics – and the clown’s tears – can apply equally to animals that are lost, abandoned or abused. In the United States, the ASPCA is the group that is tasked with the humane treatment and prevention of cruelty of animals. To benefit this organisation, Seraphim has put together a massive event that will run from November 6-26. Over 100 designers will come together with circus-themed items with donations going to the ASPCA.

You can check out the Cirque de Serpahim blog or Flickr page for a sneak-preview of some of the items that will be available. SLurls to the two (yes, two!) sims will be published there when the event opens and I’ll be adding them into my update posts on and after November 6.

Start saving your pennies for this event; you don’t want to be the one to make the clown cry.

Out-Strutted

1 Ursula Photo Bomb

So there I was, all excited about my new hairstyles, clothes, manicure and jewelry, strutting like a….

…um, yeah. Just when I thought I had that strut down pat, along came an expert to photobomb me! I guess he put me in my place, eh? 😉

But seriously, check me out! This round of Serafilms‘ theme is Sequels, and is there a better sequel ever than The Godfather II? Heck, it won the Oscar for Best Picture so it’s got to be good.

But not as good as the pretty stuff from Cae and {Wicked} Peach. The necklace and earrings from Cae are so delicate and feminine, and with colour-change options for the chain, rose and pearls it is so versatile you can match it with almost anything. The nail polish from {Wicked} Peach has your fingers and toes covered in either a Business or Pleasure set. What more could a gangster or moll ask for?

I’m showing off more pretty hair from Hair Fair today. One thing I love about this event is that each year I seem to find a new-to-me designer who becomes a fast favourite. Last year it was *ARGRACE*; this year, it has to be +elua+. I realise both of these stores have been around for a while, but I just hadn’t visited them. I love the short, flirty hairstyle, Ursula, worn in my first photo and the longer style, Tricia, coming up next.

You can see the same necklace and earrings in this photo with different colour combinations and I adored this pose set from {Exposeur} at a super-discounted price for The Dreaming Tree this weekend. Sunflowers can make even a cloudy day seem right.

If you still haven’t gotten into Hair Fair, make sure you’ve joined the Hair Fair Demo Group. You can try on the demos before you arrive so you can get in and out quickly. Make sure you check out the Hair Fair Blog for the locations of your favourite stores, plus adjacent landing points where you can cam shop across borders or push in when a space comes free.
