Little Moments

There are many things I didn’t appreciate when I was younger. I was always in a hurry to be somewhere, do something, achieve the next thing. As a result, I became impatient, impulsive and impetuous. All are signs of youth, and not that uncommon.

These days, I am still impatient, but I have learned to be more thoughtful and more appreciative of things I once took for granted. I understand that it is usually more prudent to be contemplative and considerate. I have learned to be grateful for incidents in everyday life that spark an instance of quiet contemplation.

As always, [ keke ] inspires me to step back and just enjoy the beauty of her craftsmanship. I placed several of her recent releases on the floor of my platform and just stood there, admiring these small objects, a sigh of wonderment passing my lips. Pushing them together, that was my photograph. Perhaps it is an appreciation that extends only to me, but it was one of those little moments that brought me a sense of awe and admiration; a little moment that left me happy to take a slow, deep breath and smile.

I’m Not Afraid Of Spiders

While I am not a spider lover, I’m not afraid of them. I hate walking through their webs (and have the dance moves to prove it), but if I see a spider inside, I leave it be. They love eating bugs, for which I am grateful.

So without a moment’s hesitation, I slipped this little fellow around my throat and threaded his mates through my ears. The Spiders Jewelry Set from .::Nanika::. is available at The Liaison Collaborative, which just opened a few hours ago. The set comes with a texture-change HUD for both the choker and earrings, so you can mix or match as you like.

You may also notice a few blemishes, freckles and wrinkles on my cheeks and around my eyes. I love the subtle look provided by Izzie’s, also available at TLC. With this HUD, you can add 16 different variations of these marks. I found these work better on lighter skin tones, so I changed my *Birth* Rose appliers from Tone 04 down to 03. This item is available for LeLutka, Catwa and Omega, all sold separately.

These new things will leave you squirming in a good way. I may not be afraid of spiders, but don’t even get me started on snakes!

My Fair Lady

I love the classics. Whether it is literature, fashion or personalities I am drawn to simple elegance. Don’t call my look a cliche; I prefer enduring style.

When it comes to my skin in Second Life, I am very particular. I often see skins that I love in the promo photos or even on other avatars, but I will never, ever buy a skin without demoing it first. Clothing and accessories define your style; your skin defines who you are. So it was a big step for me to subscribe to Powder Pack for the first time. I have been checking the event for several months and finally decided to push aside my anxiety of not knowing what I might receive and purchase the October box for LeLutka. And I was pleasantly surprised.

I can’t say that I will wear any of the skins or makeup on a daily basis, but I will be happy to dip into these treasures whenever I feel a need to switch things up. Including body appliers with the head appliers is a huge bonus, and I will definitely give some of the creators’ new releases a try in the future. If I want drama, I’ve got it. If I want exotic, it’s now in my inventory. And even when I want to show off classic beauty, I have all of the tools I will need.

In the inimitable words of Professor Henry Higgins, “But I’m used to hear say, ‘Good morning’ everyday. Her joys, her woes, her highs, her lows. A second nature to me now. Like breathing out and breathing in. I’m very grateful she’s a woman! And so easy to forget. Rather like a habit one can always break! And yet, I’ve grown accustomed to the trace of something in the air. Accustomed to her… face.”

And what a face it is…of My Fair Lady.
