1 New Year's Day

While I’m not a party-er or even a drinker, New Year’s Day was a lazy one for me. No hangover; just a day relaxing as I prepare myself to return to work on Monday after a luxurious 11 days off. I have enjoyed my vacation time and the extra time has allowed me to blog more frequently. I have no doubt my post count will drop off again once I return to the daily grind, but I am trying to bank a few photos so I can start off the year with a few more posts than I had been doing.

Whatever your New Year’s Eve was like, I hope you celebrated as you wished and your New Year’s Day is as lazy or productive as you want.

1 Remnants of the Circus-1

I honestly thought I was “circused-out” after doing a full month of circus-inspired photos for Cirque de Seraphim in November. So when The Challenge introduced its theme of “Fairground/Circus” for this month, I admit I sighed. Not being a role-player or heavily into themed decor, I was a bit reticent about blogging even more Big Top stuff.

But then, I took a look at what the designers have come up with, and I was quietly delighted. I fell in love with the organ from 22769 ~ [bauwerk] with it’s muted hues and loving detail. When you play one of the included three songs, the crank on the left side even turns! I also adore the circus dresser and mirror from *Essay*, a new-to-me store. There are three poses included in the dresser and this will fit into even a non-circus setting.

I can’t imagine that anyone would leave these behind, but it seems they have been dumped by the wayside. Perhaps the Ringmaster was a bit shady and made a hasty retreat from town. Better for the villagers that these were the remnants of the circus, and not the lions or tigers or bears…

Oh my.

Sometimes she actually gets out…even if it means hanging out at the bus stop, waiting for a ride.

I shot this photo at my sister, Rwah‘s sim, square pegs in round holes. You may remember it from previous posts where I shot there, but it is nothing like it was before. From a desolate beach to a small, forgotten desert town, she has teamed with her friend, Jordy Zipdash to create this eerie, but oddly inviting location. She has reopened it to the public and will have a new Flickr group coming soon. I’ll link to the group when she gets it set up, because she is re-introducing square pegs with a juried photo contest! The contest will run through January 31, with the winner receiving 1000L, second place winning 750L and third receiving 500L.

There is no need to wait until the Flickr group is open to head over and start shooting, though. Edit: It’s open now! Rwah is generously allowing people to rez on the sim, if you need additional props or to set poseballs or lights, with a 30 minute auto-return. Please be polite and don’t overdo it on the props; the sim is fabulous as it is and it is always the best policy to pack out what you pack in and who needs a crowded Lost & Found folder, anyway? You no longer need to be a group member for rez privileges, a rarity for the ravenous location photographer.

If you stop by, make sure you say howdy to the folks; I’m sure they’re missing me by now.
