Taking A (Virtual) Mental Health Break

1 Fear_054

I took a little break from blogging. It wasn’t so much that I was burnt out from my 30-day challenge, but more that I was burnt out from SL in general. I have never made it a secret that I am fully immersed in our little world and the people I am closest to have links to Second Life. I am very much a “Virtual Girl”.

I think one of the best parts (or maybe the worst) is that when the drama or circumstances get to be too much, you can just check out. I guess not logging in to SL is the real world equivalent of taking a “Mental Health Day” from work. You know the one…when you aren’t really ill but you just need a day or two to recover your mojo. It works in SL, too. I had tried taking photos, but I just wasn’t “seeing” them. The angle, the lighting, the location just weren’t right, no matter how many different versions I tried. So, I did the only thing I could think to do; I took a Virtual Mental Health Break.

I’ve spent my time away working on other things – skills that I can use in either world, although it remains to be seen just how successful I will be. But I’ll keep learning, trying, reflecting on what I need to do. And hopefully, sharing what I have discovered.

Shaken, Not Stirred

1 Dry Martini

I had a lot of things planned for my day in Second Life. I needed to find a hat for an outfit I’m putting together, I needed to take photos for a blog challenge later this week, and I wanted to grab some demos of the new t-shirts out from Erratic. I had the best of intentions, and actually found a hat (hugs to my lil Cao for steering me in the right direction)! But that’s when things started to unravel…

You see, the hat didn’t really work with the hair I had planned to wear. And although I have an obscene amount of hair, I couldn’t find a style to match. So, off I went in search of something that did work. I found myself at Vanity Hair, a place I don’t usually go, but I was looking for a rather high-fashion style and I thought that would be a good place to start.

I didn’t find what I was looking for, but I found…a Dry Martini. Yep, that’s the name of the hairstyle. Not my usual style, but there was just something about it – the sleek, pulled up sides, the full top and the sweet wrap of the hair to secure the ponytail. I had to have it.

And then, of course, I had to take photos.

I still don’t have a hairstyle to wear with the outfit I’m putting together, I really don’t know what I’m going to do for my challenge photo, and I forgot to grab the demos. Sighs…but I have kick-ass hair and no hangover…guaranteed!

…or maybe it is 😉

Yes, another very brief post until my back calms down a bit. You’re probably glad about that. The brief part…not my back issues (I hope!)
