körd

1 körd sm

Körd. Swedish for screwed (has no chance) {adj.} [coll.]. I’ll do what I can, but needless to say, you are good and screwed.

At least according to bab.la.

This is exactly how I feel whenever I am faced with the prospect of assembling my own furniture. And yes, the screwdriver does end up in my mouth as I try to start the thread of the screws, shortly before it becomes a lethal weapon if anyone happens to be standing in the way when I hurl it across the room in frustration.

Paco Pooley of 22769 ~ [bauwerk] could have used my finished shelf as his model for his entry in this month’s round of The Challenge. With Scandinavian as the theme, it was almost inevitable that someone would play on Ikea. And that’s exactly what Paco did.

Yes, the SLIkea box and the inexpertly-put-together shelf are playful. I’m sure more people than just me laughed when they saw it. It also includes a spare board and an instruction manual…which you can see roasting like chestnuts on the open fire. What use are instructions when they are only diagrams and not very informative, at that?

The Challenge runs throughout the month and you can find all of the designer’s goodies in their mainstores. Get there, or you’re screwed.

Autumn Evening

1 Autumn Evening sm

Kean Kelly of [ keke ] has been a very busy lady. She has three new releases, staggered over the next week.

First up is the chair and table (in three colours) available Saturday for The Neighbourhood. The textures are divine, the perfect weathered look for furniture that has seen more than one autumn come and go. It will be available at the mainstore at a special price for one day only.

You may as well plan to go back on Sunday to pick up the little set of Northern Lights candles. One of the things I love most about all things [ keke ] is the way she creates anthing that includes light. From twinkling to static flames, she is a mistress of illumination. The set of candles is very small and delicate, but it can be resized.

Last, but not least, is the willows, tea lights and tea glasses for The Seasons Story, which begins on October 10th. In addition to the willow bush and leaves I am showing, there is also a tree stump with willows and pillows (I like how that rhymes!). All are amazingly detailed with interesting poses and once again, the light from the tea lights is superb.

Set the scene with these beautiful items and all you need to add is moonlight for the perfect autumn evening.

Pretty stuff I’m showing off:

*Chair: [ keke ] old garden chair – green by Kean Kelly (at the mainstore Saturday, Oct.3 for The Neighbourhood)
*Table: [ keke ] metal side table – green by Kean Kelly (at the mainstore Saturday, Oct.3 for The Neighbourhood)

Pose Me Pretty: GLITTERATI

1 Pose Me Pretty Glitterati sm

For the longest time, I have been trying to come up with a theme I can use as the basis for a weekly post. Think Strawberry Singh’s Monday Memes or Wendz Tempest’s Sunday Sevensies . But I couldn’t think of anything that I thought would be compelling enough for me to continue on a regular basis.

Then, a couple of weeks ago, I found myself in possession of a pose from !bang and I struggled to make it fit in with the other things I was blogging. So I went at it from the opposite direction: I styled my photo around the pose. I talked about it in my post, and it really is one of my favourite photographs.

The more I thought about it, the more I liked the idea of doing a weekly post wherein the pose is the star. Whether it is an animation in furniture or a dance ball, a static pose or even an AO, the pose is the backbone of any Second Life photo that contains an avatar. And posemakers don’t get enough credit, in my opinion.

That is the genesis of my weekly prompt, Pose Me Pretty. I will style my photograph around the pose and share it here.

This week, I am featuring a pose prop that is no longer available for purchase, but has long been one of my favourites. It is from the Draped series by Katey Coppola of GLITTERATI. GLITTERATI was one of my original favourite pose stores and is now, sadly, only available on the Marketplace. Not sad because it is only on MP, but because Katey is no longer actively creating poses and I own virtually everything she has made!

Each piece in this set has a pose contained in a wispy piece of fabric. They are elegant and feminine and show the staying power of a well-made pose. It is a piece worthy of its own post, in my humble opinion, and I am pleased to present it as the first in what I hope to make a long-standing event.

I hope you come back to check it out as I continue this little adventure. I have even set up a separate category, so you can easily find them.

Dedicated to the wonderful posemakers in Second Life. Thank you, one and all.
