Shabby Chic Heaven

1 The Collage crop

Anyone who has visited my home in Second Life knows that I have a major love affair going on with Shabby Chic. While I can appreciate the sleek lines of Modern design or the museum-quality of the Victorian style, for instance, Shabby Chic just speaks to me as what a home should be: warm, comfortable and inviting. Muted tones, deep, squishy cushions, lots of pretty tchotchkes, begging to be touched…yes, this is my home-heaven.

This month’s theme at The Collage is obviously inspired by the upcoming Valentine’s Day and that is the perfect holiday to inspire Shabby Chic creations. I guess it comes as no surprise that every piece of furniture and knick-knack in my photo came from The Collage then, does it? So yes, I went a little nuts picking up my S/C treasures…and I’m not going to apologise!

The furniture set comes from Sway’s, a long-established favourite of mine. And of course, I picked up a few lovelies from Dreamscapes Art Gallery. But all of the other goodies came from Thaino Designs, a new-to-me creator. I am torn between staying away from the mainstore to guard my Linden balance and running wild in the shop to feed my Shabby Chic addiction. The prices are very reasonable; I have to weigh that up with my total lack of restraint when it comes to buying any little shiny that catches my eye. I’ll let you know how that turns out 😉

Never fear; if your taste runs to more modern lines, there are goodies at The Collage to feed your own personal decorating fixation. There is also a sweet hidden patio and a warehouse-style build on offer. This isn’t a huge event, so you can easily peruse the offerings. Just like a Shabby Chic home, it is comfortable and inviting.

I’m almost ashamed to say that this isn’t all that I bought at this event; I’ll try to get another post about my other major buy up soon. That is, once I finish fluffing the pillows and dusting the gewgaws!
