This photo looks rather standard, I’m sure. It is a picture of me standing in front of a ray of light with some pretty flowers surrounding me. But in actuality, it took me nearly forever to get that photo to the final product.
You see, I originally did a photoshoot in this very place in this very outfit about a week ago. I was fortunate enough to receive the lovely dress from Coquet. as part of The Seraphim Social early, so being a good little blogger, I decided to do the photos right away so I would be ready to go when the event opened. I scouted out the location, Ivy Glad, set myself up and took my photos. Simple enough, right? Well, it was simple, until I decided to change my Slink hands from Casual to Elegant. Only instead of switching my left hand, I added the Elegant version…and forgot to remove the Casual one. It wasn’t until I was processing the photo that I noticed something wasn’t quite right. And try as I might, my Photoshop skills just weren’t up to the task of removing the extra four fingers and a thumb.
So, back I went. Only to be plagued by the dreaded discarded texture bug. Three times. I was about to give up and just shoot against a plain background in the safety of my studio, but nope, I decided to give it one more go. And I managed to get a few shots. I was extra careful to check my appendages to make sure I had the appropriate number only. And then…my viewer crashed. So I didn’t take as many pictures as I normally do. But I think it came out ok 🙂
The point of this marathon test of my patience was to show off this beautiful dress. It is called Pride and the shade is Peony. It is the palest of pale pinks – exactly the colour of a peony as it transforms from white to pink. There are two other equally delicate shades available, as well. Since The Seraphim Social is now open, you can buzz over and check them out yourself.
There are some wonderful items in this round. I’m going to try to do at least one more post highlighting some of the treasures – hopefully, with only two hands and fewer technical hiccups!
Oh, just a reminder that today is the last day to pick up a Pics by Peep photo package at the Valentine’s Day special pricing, so click on over to grab yours now!

lol all Bravo!’s gratefully accepted ❤
Sometimes the end is worth the means 😉
Ah now see? For that I wouldn’t have reshot. I’d have either painted or copy pasted. Like today’s picture. When I looked at it closely my left arm was going thru the middle of my thigh. But I had 20 mind to get dressed for work.. so I painted a bit of sleeve down the inside of the pant, copied my right hand, flipped it and freeform moved it and.. well. Good enough for 6am on a Friday. But lighting? That’s not my thing… >. < I have to go back and re shoot stuff all the time bc my lighting was off. That is a gorgeous dress Peep. ♡
lol there is NO way I could copy, flip and freeform move a hand – not only because they were in completely different positions, but because, well, um….those skills are just beyond me! I’ve JUST learned how to paint over blotchy skin and I’m working on getting better than that. I did, however, just finish one photo from my collage yesterday then copy the different nail colours for the different images. I was quite pleased, if I do say so myself 😉
Oh, and I can see YOU in that dress, btw 😉 ❤
Oh! I want you to show me how to do that and where you got that great nail pose too! And if you hear some in your closet later just don’t look!
We seem to have quite a few common things in the closet, but feel free to pilfer, my sweet Cao ❤
Credit for the pose is at the bottom of my post, but I think I may have gotten that on MP instead of in the store.
Get a Bambooooo! It makes stuff like painting SO much easier! Just create a new layer, select a soft brush, adjust your opacity and flow as needed, use the colour picker to get the right tones (sampling often) and then, use the smudge to blend. Et voila! Ugly blotches be gone! \o/
Oh…the hands were in a different position in the original because I used a different pose. I only switched to this one for the reshoot because it was the one up next in my HUD and I didn’t risk finding the first one!
That just seems like a lot of work (referring to the comments)! If it takes me longer than 30 minutes to process a picture these days, I just don’t bother. Though the results of your picture is great, lovely shot. I still can’t bring myself to buy hands… maybe it’s because everyone has the same hands.
It really doesn’t take long to do – a couple of minutes, but I don’t do it on every picture and I only use it when the blotchiness is really bad. Then again, I’m no Skip Staheli 😉
I never go without the hands; a lot of people do have them, but I look at it this way – a lot of people wear the same skin and most folks don’t pay too much attention to hands. And the difference in photos is what really sold me – no more weird angles on the wrist bones or choppy fingertips, bloated thumbs or webbed fingers. I has saved me ages in processing by switching to the Slink hands. I have only recently used anything other than the Casual hands and I love that you can use a different style for each hand – it can make a huge impact on a pose.
I just have to remember to take off any extras I add 😉
AS per usual you are great. I am like you, I can’t flip free form and paint (still working with a mouse here lol) and I really do not like re-doing a shot. It somehow makes it feel like.. homework? But sometimes you have to do it. And the result is grand sweet Peep.
I still remember my first slink start up problems *coughs* and before I will try 2 different version hands in a shoot will be a while off I think. Specially since I dread close ups. Again wonderful picture Peeps.
lol all I can say is thank goodness you had those start up problems – your experience helped me solve mine so that I could get the appliers to work! ❤
the box in a box quest! I will never forget hahaha
lol neither will I! They would still be languishing in my inventory if not for your timely tip ❤
I think there all still some people hiding and/or diving away when they see me coming. I have literaly harrassed everyone, bar Sidian herself obviously about those hands.
I was a noob. Still am, but now I am aware noob ^^
I can’t classify myself as a noob, but it took one to sort me out ❤
I think you've graduated, Rwah 😉
*Peep. Bah.
I’ve been called worse. MUCH worse 😉
