I am not making any new year resolutions. I haven’t in several years. If I need to make a change in my life, I will do it when I am motivated personally; not by the turning of the calendar page.
That doesn’t stop me from taking some time for contemplation. I have a couple of weeks off work, so the downtime is conducive to evaluation. Through the rest of the year, I’ve rarely had more than a long weekend, so some quiet time is nice. It also allows me to think about more than just commuting, working and preparing for the next work week.
I am only four days in, and already I am feeling a bit at loose ends. The flurry of holiday prep and deadlines are over, as is the latest flurry of blogging commitments I have had. It is a bit of a luxury to be able to do whatever I choose to do without a sense of obligation, in both worlds.

I’m savouring it 🙂 And I would definitely not recommend making a resolution just for the sake of making it. That’s a sure recipe for failure.

I am very much like you in that respect.. to make a change when I feel compelled and not by a set calendar. I contemplate a lot though, but that’s my nature. 🙂 Happy New Year’s Peeps!.
