Y Is For Yellow

1 Y is for Yellow A

I can’t believe the Inventory Alphabet Challenge is almost over. This has been a fun challenge, some letters tougher than others. I knew from day A, though, that Y would be for yellow. It is a happy colour full of warmth and sunshine. And I knew from day A that I would use this flower-filled hill at It all starts with a smile. The rest was just details – I have a LOT of yellow stuff in my inventory.

I have already taken the photo for Z…I just have to process it and write the post. I have a lot of other pictures I took during the course of this challenge that I just haven’t had time to blog; I may slow down on shooting more pictures until those have seen the light of day. Or maybe I’ll just save them for a rainy day.

Sometimes I feel the pressure to blog only new things. But is an outfit that I put together from pieces that were new a couple of weeks ago really old? Unless it is a limited edition item, the dress or shoes or pose is still available for sale in the creator’s store and a later post is a reminder of this. I admit I do a lot of my shopping at sales events, rather than going to individual stores. I also blog for a few events, and while I have a responsibility to show items while the event is running I try to use the things I have been given later on, just so my readers are aware of something pretty they may have missed the first time around or I wasn’t able to show during the event. I am grateful to the designers who provide review copies to event bloggers; we aren’t their hand-picked bloggers and I do appreciate the trust they place in those of us selected by event coordinators. I have gotten past the point where I feel pressured to blog every single item that I receive; not everything is my style and I refuse to blog something that I can’t make look as good as I possibly can.

There is a point to my rambling. This challenge has reminded me of a lot of lovely things that have been languishing in my inventory for a while, and even a few things I had forgotten about or hadn’t even opened. Other than the hair I am wearing in this photo, everything is an older item. Yes, probably only a few months old, at most, but in the world of Second Life blogging, that is practically ancient history. Going back through my belongings during this past three-and-a-half weeks has given me an opportunity to remember that “new-to-me” can be just as exciting as “new-to-everyone.”

X Is For X-Ray Spex

1 X is for X-Ray Spex 1

I really don’t know why I was panicking about the letter X. I have a Cao for a friend who, when I mentioned in the comments of an earlier post I was worried about X, she replied that every girl should have a pair of X-Ray Spex. And sure enough when I logged on today, I had a pair – a gift from Cao 🙂

I actually cried when I found them. You see, today is not just Letter X Day, it is ANZAC Day here in Australia. Cao and I can trace the true beginning of our friendship to one year ago today. It all started with this post. I have told the story before of how I had mentioned the previous day that I had a special post planned and Cao, like a kid on Christmas Eve was very excited about it. I worried that she would be upset since I knew that she had lost someone close to her at war. I was appalled by my own glibness and warned her in my reply to her comments that it was actually a somber post.

Barely a day has gone by since that she and I haven’t traded blog comments, the occasional email or banter on Facebook. Unbelievably, we have never met in Second Life – a travesty we must rectify soon. Though we live on opposite sides of the world and time zones are cruel, we will find a way. I have no doubt. And that’s not all…

X also marks the spot that Cao holds in my heart ♥

W Is For Willy

1 W is for Willy

I am totally blaming Grumper for this one. Way back when I was shooting the photos for the letter F, Grumper wanted me to do a recreation of the movie poster for “Free Willy.” I laughed and asked if he meant a freenis. He was appalled. (He has an affinity for animal characters; don’t ever go talking smack about Peppa Pig!)

Alas, I had already done my photo for the letter F, so I let it go. That is until W was imminent. And although W is a rather common letter, doing a take on Free Willy just seemed more and more appealing.

I had the rocks. I live on an island. I could make the pose. I even had the outfit. All I needed was Willy.

Now, to be honest, I seriously considered using a freenis. I actually have a couple in my inventory – gag gifts I have received over the years. But I didn’t have one that had the right bend to it to mimic Willy’s arching back (sorry guys). So, that meant that if I was going to do this, I would have to *gulp* buy one.

I couldn’t do it.

Unfortunately, I didn’t have a single whale in my inventory. I toyed with the idea of using the friggin’ laser shark, but he has no arch to his back and his laser beam kept interfering with the sunset.

That left me with procuring an Orca. Now, I know I said at the beginning of this challenge I wasn’t going to buy anything specifically to complete one of my posts. But since Willy is now swimming and leaping about in the bay, I can claim he was purchased to enhance our island living. I don’t even have to cross my fingers!

Oh, and I’m not kidding about the inexpensive part. I got three sizes for L$210. Every girl should be spoiled for choice when it comes to deciding on a Willy 😉
