I Needed A Tan

1 Scribbled Hearts_018A

I live on a beach. And my everyday skin is very pale. So you see, I had a reason for what I did today.

I really, really needed a tan.

I succumbed to the sale at Glam Affair, where Aida Ewing has put several skins on sale for 100L each. I have never been a Glam Affair skin wearer – the older tones just didn’t suit me. But I recently tried on a demo of the Jamaica tone and really liked it. But since I have been waiting patiently to demo Hart Larsson’s PXL Creations skin, Jade, which should be arriving on the grid soon, I didn’t want to invest in a new skin just yet. This sale was the perfect opportunity for me to pick up a darker tone without feeling guilty. And I love it.

I wandered over to the Scribbled Hearts sim to find a place to photograph my new look. This a location that has been on my list of places to visit for a while. I wanted someplace that went with my casual look, so today seemed like the perfect occasion. It looks delightful; I really can’t tell you much about it because I didn’t get past this sign at the landing point. I should probably feel ashamed that I didn’t go any further, but this sign captured my attention and I felt I didn’t need to take another step. I will go back very soon to explore and show you more of what promises to be a delightful destination.

But for today, I just wanted to preen a little and show off my glorious tan 🙂

Staring Down A Songbot

1 Immersiva by Bryn Oh_001

I’m not quite sure what it is about Bryn Oh’s Immersiva sim that keeps drawing me back. It’s a bit surreal and other-worldly – not the kind of place a down-to-earth gal like me normally chooses as a hangout spot. Maybe it’s just the sheer creativity or the fact that I’ll discover something new to capture my fascination on each visit. Whatever the reason, I found myself back there a couple of days ago.

I had seen this statue – the Vera Lynn Singbot – before. In fact, she is featured on the Destination Guide page for this sim. However, where I had just wandered past her before, giving her a wink and a nod, on this trip she seemed to call to me to stop for a visit. So, with my faithful Cyber Ducky as my companion, we settled in for a little visit.

As the thunder rolled and the raindrops pattered around us, she sang to us her lovely song. No, I don’t know the tune, but I probably should. Instead of worrying about it, I just stood, transfixed, as she poured her melody into the rain.

And I learned one thing – songbots never blink.

The Haunted Meme – Standing On The Edge Of Tomorrow

1 Fear_034

A fear of heights is a classic phobia. I’m not afraid of heights, so much as I am of falling. I remember distinctly when this fear manifested itself. I was eight years old, on a trip to Mammoth Cave in Kentucky with my sisters and my oldest sister’s family. After traversing most of the cave, there was a stairway you have to climb built over the “Bottomless Pit” to reach the end of the tour. This stairway was made of metal grating and when looking down, you were staring into the abyss. I recall the terror that seized me about halfway up; my brother-in-law had to take my hand and lead me the rest of the way. I had nightmares for years about this experience. And it is a fear that plagues me to this day.

But that still isn’t my greatest fear. It is looking back on my life and worrying that the best has passed me by. That the worst days of my life may turn out to be the best. That the foolish decisions I made when much younger have led me to a place where the edge of tomorrow is a steep, craggy cliff that I am afraid to descend. And I am left with nothing but a yesterday that is far from ideal, but better than what is ahead.

When I saw Berry’s meme this week, I was afraid (haha) that this would end up seeming depressing. Her instructions were:

What are you afraid of? What are you haunted by? Share some of your fears and if you can, create an image depicting one of them. Don’t forget to leave your link in the comments!

To combat the somber tone of my post, I decided to deck myself out in the brightness of sunshine, with the softness of a daffodil’s petals and the delicacy of a butterfly. Thanks to the new round of Collabor88, that was a simpler task than convincing my avatar to stand on this precipice long enough for me to take photos. It was, I admit, a rather quick photoshoot 😉 I found this location in the Destination Guide, once again. It is a sim well-worth exploring called Skye Neist Point. I’ll be going back to wander around another time.

I took a few days off from blogging, and I apologise for not mentioning it in advance. But actually, it wasn’t planned; just a case of inertia. But I’m back now.

Never fear.
