Inspiration Amidst the Cast-offs

1 Mannequins by Candlelight 2

When you are given a gift, it is important that you show your gratitude. I have been given a gift of a marvelous woman whom I call my sister. If you read my blog even occasionally, you know her name is Rwah.

Rwah and I became friends through our blogs, encouraging one another, offering constructive criticism and always showing support. We are different. Slightly off-centre, but in different ways. We both speak our minds, but while I tend to be more reserved, Rwah is exuberant. We are both creative, but I am more conventional, Rwah, totally avante garde. We are both loving, but while I tend to hold my caring close to the vest, Rwah wears her heart on her sleeve.

When I suffer insecurities, I hold them in – except with Rwah. She listens, digests, then gives me a needed kick up the backside along with a healthy dose of encouragement. She helps me focus by forcing me to find my own inspiration. She is far from ordinary, but and her extra-ordinariness is what give the spice to her quirky personality.

She is a perfectionist, often to the point of indecision, allowing her vision to be clouded by too many brilliant ideas at once. Her perfection is a storm of chaotic creativity clashing with a constant need for change. She is much more likely to completely discard a stunning creation – by other’s criteria – and start again when it doesn’t meet her exacting standards than to let it languish as anything less than stunningly superb. For some, 98 percent is enough. For Rwah, nothing less than impeccability will do.

She is stubborn, forceful and generous to a fault. There is always a chance if you visit her sim there will be a struggling artist somewhere on a platform or rezzing a structure on her land. She also frequently blows up her inventory and leaves a box of goodies for me to find somewhere. It is like an Easter egg hunt while Trick or Treating at Christmas. Brimming with gacha prizes that have lost their lustre for her, they are bright, shiny and inspirational for me.

The contents of some of those boxes were the catalyst for today’s photo, along with a couple of tips on styling. Just a bit of tweaking of an already good idea – that is what I count on from Rwah’s advice. Unless total destruction is required, she will just nudge me in the right direction. Unless, of course, it is demolition-worthy. She would tell me that, too. That’s what a good sister does.

I called this photo “Mannequins in the Candlelight,” based on the image alone. But I renamed the post “Inspiration Amidst the Cast-offs” as a tribute to the beautiful woman named Rwah.

It just seems fitting.

Stolen Stars From The Sky

1 Celestial 1

He must have stolen some stars from the sky,
And gave them to you to wear in your eyes.
I had my chances, but I set you free.
And now I wonder why I couldn’t see.
~ From “You Look So Good In Love” by George Strait

Oh, what a beautiful song…it’s about love and loss and memories. It is sad and wistful with a touch of regret. It is proof that you don’t need a pickup truck or Mama or an ole yeller dog to write a perfect country song.

I was reminded of this tune when I saw the latest creation from Cheeky Pea for Uber. As with everything Isla Gealach creates, the textures are amazing the detail is incredible. I actually got goose bumps reading the little quotes on the stars and moons decorating the canopy. And with all twelve zodiac signs available as a wall-hanging, you can chart your stars to suit any horoscope.

You can share it with your sweetheart or curl up and reminisce about stolen stars from the sky.

Nostalgia

1 Nostalgia

Sometimes when I have something I need to blog, I just start rezzing stuff and see what turns out. In this case, I started with the Cozy Bed from Kuro in the Iona Conservatory from Trompe Loeil. The reason I started with this build is because I had it rezzed on my platform and couldn’t be bothered to get rid of it and start with something new. Besides, I love the shadows it creates, so win-win.

The end result was a feeling of nostalgia; for what, I’m not sure. Just days gone by, maybe even in another life.
