Dancing Queen Wannabe

When you’re a dancer (wannabe or full-fledged), you’ve got to have options. Either you’re not going to make it or eventually your corns, calluses and creaky joints will force you into retirement.

While I’m fresh out of ideas for a dancer’s future prospects, I have loads of other options to tell you about, starting with the extremely versatile Amber Shirt from Just BECAUSE, available at the current round of FaMESHed. Not only are there colour varieties (including additional hues with the fatpack), each shirt comes with HUD-driven options for the straps. In addition to the version I am wearing, you can add another set that wraps around your neck, or you can dispense with them completely, giving you a pretty scoop neckline. Tick the box for choices!

And if you are a dancer, you can’t be without a tip jar. [ keke ] will be releasing a set of tip jars for the upcoming new event, Le Six, opening on October 6th. These jars do not come with a tip script, but they are mod, so you can add the script of your choice. The hardest decision you’ll have to make is which one to use: they come with different sayings on the tags, with options from the traditional to the fun. Included are “Tips are appreciated – Thank you!”, “Tip here – Giving returns ten-fold :)”, “Money is the root of all evil. Cleanse yourself here”, “Tips are like hugging without all the touching” and “Please tip. My boss is a real bastard”. See what I mean about options?

Finally, the rustic screen I am using is from Flair. You get not only the triptych screen I am showing, there are three separate panels, as well. In addition, each section can be retextured with three options for the frame and the weave. The possibilities are mind-boggling! This item will be available at the “Going To The Max” event, which begins on October 3rd. In case you haven’t heard about this event, it is to assist Second Life resident and creator, Maxwell Graf, owner and creator of Rustica (in world sim/store, Marketplace). Max and his wife are being evicted from their home by family after caring for his wife’s parents until their death. With the generosity that creators in Second Life are known for, several have banded together to present an event to benefit Max and his wife, Cheryl. This event runs for only one week, so do plan to visit to help out. Another option is to go to the in world store or visit Marketplace (links above) and purchase something to assist. The location has not yet been announced, but I found information on the event on Mona Eberhardt’s bog. Keep your eyes open for the location in a couple of days. *EDIT: I found the SLurl to the event location on the ForMax Facebook page.

If you have an option to shop and help someone out, then there really is no option but to do so.

Pretty Stuff I’m Showing Off

1 Once Upon A Winter's Night A sm

Yesterday marked my third year of blogging. It amazes me how some days it feels as if I have been blogging for 30 years and others it feels as if I have been blogging for 30 minutes. Like a lot of things, blogging has gone in cycles for me. I will go into a frenzy and post daily for a while, then I might drop off for a week…on a couple of occasions, longer than that. When blogging begins to seem like a chore, I am more likely to take a break until something inspires me to dust off the camera and shoot another photo. Or 12.

I am fortunate to be an official blogger for several creators and events. I take this responsibility seriously; I do my best to blog everything that I am given. The only times I don’t is when either time or inspiration (or both) prevent me from presenting the items to my very best. No, I am not the most gifted photographer in Second Life. Nor am I the most verbose author in the blogging realm. But I am honest and always try to blog with integrity.

I learned the hard way to blog only things that I would buy myself. That is how I started; simply photographing and writing about things I had purchased and loved. I don’t apply to blog for designers or events that aren’t regulars on my shopping list and I have turned down a lot of offers from designers, simply because their style didn’t fit my own. If you read the credits at the end of my posts, you will see that I head them with “Pretty stuff I’m showing off.” That isn’t just a tag line; it is more or less my philosophy of blogging. If it’s pretty and I like it, I want to show it off for the designer who has chosen to share his or her talent with us.

I was asked just a few days ago what my blogging specialty was. It really was a question that stumped me. I rambled on about fashion, H&G and even location shots, but never really did answer the question. After thinking about it for a few days I have come to the realisation that my specialty is simply, “Pretty things I’m showing off.”

Thank you to all of the designers who have given me the gift of your talent, the readers who have been here since nearly the beginning (Cao, Wendz, Rwah, Alexa, Cheri) and those who have stopped by frequently without leaving a comment. I’d love if you did; comments to me are the beginnings of conversations, and conversations lead to friendships.

I’ll leave my ramblings off for now, and let you get to the good stuff. You know…
