I hung out at Rwah’s place(s) this weekend. You remember Square Pegs in Round Holes, right? She and Jordy Zipdash have transformed it into The Lost Town, and there is still time to enter the photo competition. All you need to do is create a postcard, shot at The Lost Town and upload it to the Square Pegs the Pictures Flickr group by January 31. It is a juried contest, with the winner receiving 1000L, 2nd place winning 750L and third place gets 500L. So there’s no reason not to head over, snap some shots and enter!

When I got dressed, I realised The Lost Town would be a great place to shoot one of the latest releases from JfL Hats. I love the tweed, it fits snugly and fashionably and works wonderfully with leather and denim. I can’t quite decide if I seem more like a gunslinger in a ghost town (sans guns) or a wayward B actress lost on the back lot of a movie studio. Luckily, I only had to derender a few people who wandered into my shots; I guess I turned them into ghosts!

You might have noticed at the beginning I mentioned Rwah’s places…plural. She is working on another sim, which will be opening (hopefully) soon. It is an amazing build, very unique in character, and has that special touch that only Rwah can bring. Stay tuned for more info; I can’t say anything more right now or Rwah will beat me with her wet sock!

I have never been a person who puts up their Christmas tree in RL before the beginning of December. In fact, I won’t be putting one up at all this year. It’s too much of a temptation for my cat and since it’s just the two of us, why test fate? Besides, even after 14 Christmases in Australia, I can’t get my head around Christmas in the summer. It would be my luck to trim my tree and get hit by a bushfire alert and have to take it down.

Instead, I can have a cozy little place in Second Life with a roaring fire, a big, brightly lit tree and even snow falling softly outside. I can even change it on a whim, depending on who is stopping by to visit. Today I brought along Chance to show off this very romantic pose by !bang for this month’s round of TMD. He didn’t bring the mistletoe, but honestly, who really needs it? 😉

Shattered…In A Fedora

Sometimes I try to complicate things too much. I was so excited by the Shattered… pose and mirror prop from Kuro in motion for Pose Fair that I wanted to do a really special photo using it. I initially tried setting up a scene to shoot the photo, but after I did the image for the mirror, I couldn’t get the placement right. I tried again, and the mirror was too big and I couldn’t get it to look good with a smaller version. Plus, I’m lousy at geometry so I couldn’t get the angle right…or acute or obtuse, for that matter.

So, in the end I cleared out the furniture and other props and went with a plain background. I think that is the best decision because I wanted to highlight the fedora I am wearing from JfL Hats and a simple setting doesn’t detract from it.

Luana Dawg, creator of Kuro in motion, is always clever with her poses and props. What I love about this is that she has included not only instructions on how to create the mirror image (except for the math lesson!) but she supplied the pose separetely so you can use the mirror prop as an accessory or with any other pose. I am using the pose that comes with the set, but I can envisage a lot of scenarios where this could work – perfect for a boudoir shot, for instance.

Johnfrancis Laville of JfL Hats hasn’t had a new release for a while, but the asymmetrical fedora was worth the wait. This version will be available at Menswear Fashion Week (MWFW) starting tomorrow, and he is releasing it in other colour combinations in his store soon. I will update the slurl to MWFW when it opens, but ladies, drag your men over for some fresh spring duds. As you can see, the hat works equally well for women, so don’t be shy about letting your inner gangster or showgirl out! *Edit: Menswear Fashion Week is now open!
