It is a lost art – the writing of a love letter. Taking pen to paper and pouring out your soul to your beloved. The trepidation, the shakiness of hand as you put into words the song of your heart. It is written; it is forever documented, to be cherished, to be read and re-read, pressed to a heart, words now immortal.

A text message just isn’t the same.

Joy Fellini has taken a collection of love letters and created a masterpiece. While haute couture isn’t usually my thing, this dress captured my imagination and left me breathless. In stunning detail, Joy’s creation swept me up into the exhilaration of finding a love letter left on my pillow, the fluttering of my heart as I hear the paper rustling, my fingers trembling as I smooth the creases of the letter his hands touched.

Fellini Couture is open in a new location; the store is still being filled with her beautiful and inspired fashions, but it is worth a trip, if only to gasp in awe at her inspirations and the beautiful setting for her store.

Go and visit. Perhaps not better than kisses, but it will touch your soul.

End of a Long Day

I spent more time in Second Life yesterday than I have in quite a while. Of course, there were a lot of things I had to do.

Shopping. Taking pictures. Shopping. Catching up with a few friends. Shopping. You know, the usual…just on steroids.

My first stop was *ARGRACE* to pick up a couple new releases. Next to Analog Dog for one of Queue Marlowe’s newest styles. Over FaMESHed. A second trip to Uber. Then off to .LeLutka. to demo the new mesh heads.

To be honest, I was a bit skeptical about investing in a mesh head. I would be happier if there was the capability to use sliders to customise my face, as with my mesh body. But since I spend so much time retouching bumpy and pointy bits on my face when processing my photos, the temptation was great.

And I really liked Aria. I did make a couple of adjustments to my shape to make me look a bit less “out-of-the-box.” And after (finally) reading the instructions, I was able to tweak my viewer so my face matched my body. I was sold.

I can’t say I’m crazy about the profile; I feel a bit like a pug with a smooshed-in face. The facial shape is also rounder than my usual face, so I’m discovering that not every hairstyle I’m used to wearing works with Aria. But with as much hair as I have clogging my inventory, I’m sure I have plenty that will work. And I don’t plan on using it every day, like I do my mesh body so I don’t have to give up my favourite styles.

After playing with the HUD to get a look I liked, I trekked back around the grid to do more shopping, created a couple of sets for photos, dragged in Chance and sent HIM shopping, took photos and then went back out for (ahem) a tiny bit more shopping.

Is it any wonder I was so exhausted I just stripped off my clothes and fell into a deep, restful sleep at the end of a long day?

Waiting For The Post

It’s rare to actually wait for the postman anymore. FedEX or StarTrack, maybe, but most days I check my mailbox and, despite the “No junk mail” placard, I find my box stuffed with realtor and pizza delivery ads. With texting and instant messaging it is also rare to even receive a “real” email.

I do remember the times, though, when the stop at the postbox would bring a smile to my face with a card, a letter or even a postcard (do they still make those?). Even the inconvenience of having to make a trip to the post office was overshadowed by the knowledge that a parcel too large for the box awaited me.

My postman, by the way, never rings twice; I’m lucky if he makes the 20-step trek to my front door, and I went into a panic before Christmas when he haphazardly stuffed a delivery into my box, only to have my neighbour rescue it…then forget to tell me she had picked it up for a week. Trust me; you do NOT want to have to deal with AusPost customer service in the lead up to the holiday!

Occasionally, though, there is still something other than a bill or junk, a treasure trove to be savoured and remembered, as a nostalgic remembrance of simpler times.

The postbox in my photo that brought on those memories is located at Rwah’s newest photography sim, Purple Crayons. It will be open soon; I’ll give details when it goes public. It is truly a destination not to be missed! Edit: Purple Crayons is now open! Also open now is Sneak Peek, so plan on doing some shopping!
