A Whiter Shade Of Pale

Well, I had planned to blog Strawberry Singh’s Social Media Meme today. I even started framing answers to the questions on my train ride home. I decided to get home, pop in SL to take a quick photo to accompany my blog, then head straight out to complete it.

Ah, the best laid plans of mice and men…

Instead, when I arrived in world, I decided I would quickly pop over the the Skin Fair. On the weekend, I had tried on several demos. I’ve been wearing my Akeruka Meg skin for well over a year now, and I still love it. But after checking out the Skin Fair and trying on several demos from some amazing creators, I found myself gravitating to the lighter tones. I had pretty much decided on Tuli Elyse Powder, but when I went back to buy it, I realised I hadn’t tried on Helena. Since the Skin Fair is winding down, I was actually able to grab a demo and try it on right in the shop. As soon as the Powder tone rezzed, that was it. I was in love.

(Please note: The slurl for the Skin Fair I have included is for Sim 1. Tuli is on Sim 2, but since I have logged out I just grabbed the slurl from the Destination Guide.)

By the way, I decided not to “Peep” this photo. I simply cropped it and let it stand on its own merit 🙂

I really only have one criticism of this skin. There are two very thin, dark lines that run down the throat. It’s not visible from all angles or in all lighting, but it’s distracting to me 😦 I thought at first it might be a bit of my hair poking out through my neck, but I went bald and it was still there. I can live with it, but it was a bit of a disappointment in an otherwise perfect skin. And I love the choice of brow colours, the cleavage tattoos and the nail concealer! While I am using my own shape, there is a bonus shape included, as well as four other eye shadows and even a dimples option!

It may take me a while to start wearing this skin everyday. The painful process of matching my feet in my hundreds of pairs of shoes already set to my Akeuruka skin will be an impediment. But in the meantime, I’ll stick to boots and my GOS Boutique shoes with their awesome skin database system. Ah, the trials of Second Life plastic surgery!

I’ll leave you with this song while I admire my new face and NOT think about those colour-matching HUDs 🙂

Strawberry Singh’s SL Meme Challenge: Chickening Out

1 Dryland_015

Strawberry Singh has created another meme challenge! I must admit, I was a bit confused at first, reading her blog on procrastination. I wondered if I should put it off till later in the week 😉 But since I have a self-imposed challenge to do at least three entries for the Single Frame Stories challenge, I decided to procrastinate doing that one instead 😀

Here is Berry’s challenge:

Meme Instructions: Create a new post, copy paste the following ten questions into your post, delete my answers and input your own about your SLife! Finally, don’t forget to link your post in the comments so I can come read!

What is the rez date for your current SL Avatar that you use most often?
Peep Sideshow October 18, 2008

Where was the first place you made friends as a newb and got to know people in Second Life?
I guess the first place was the club where I first worked (the infamous booby club!), Miss Barbie’s Place. I have no idea if the place exists anymore; I ran screaming from there when I was asked to inflate my prim boobs to the size of the short bus the patron rode in on!

Where do you spend most of your SL time now?
Either at one of the different levels of our home (the house, the platform where I do my photo shoots or lounging in the trailer-turned-inside-of-my-sweetheart’s-head) or at the club where I work, Breaking The Rules.

Who is your closest friend in Second Life? (only pick one)
Abbie Firestarter Bieber Butter Warden (Abbie Moonshadow)

What is the most favorite thing in your inventory? (only pick one)
CD, my Cyber Ducky!

The last thing you purchased in Second Life?
Maitreya Milia Sweater Dress * Honey (I made sure I bought that last so I didn’t have to mention the two fatpacks I’d bought just before it o.O )

What color clothing does your avatar wear most often?
Recently, it’s been yellow or gold

Do you prefer to walk, run or fly?
I normally walk, unless it’s a LONG way to where I want to go. I usually forget about flying (especially when I’ve fallen off my platform and go splat!)

What is the craziest thing you’ve ever done in SL?
Oh, lordy. Whipping out the acrobatic chickens that dance on my shoulders when the music stream at the club goes down, maybe?
(This is where I chickened out, ok? :D)

Who would you like to play YOU, in the movie of your SLife?
If she were alive, Audrey Hepburn. If I have to choose someone living, either Kate Winslet or Alyson Hannigan. I think playing me there would definitely have to be an understudy!

Feet: Slink Mesh Feet
Hair: Analog Dog .b – ging sangria

Single Frame Stories – Blur

If you follow my blog, you know I have begun contributing to the WordPress Weekly Photo Challenge. It’s nice to have a prompt for creating a blog post. And I love to see other bloggers’ entries.

I have discovered another blog challenge, Single Frame Stories, which is simply that – a challenge to create a story based around the prompt word in a single frame. It’s an interesting concept and one I am hoping to contribute to weekly.

This week’s prompt is the word “blur”.

1 Blur

I took this photo in Bryn Oh’s Shop on the Immersiva sim. The link takes you to the sim, and there is a sign at the landing point from which you can teleport to the shop. I was captivated by the barren room that is the shop, with various interesting and imaginative items scattered about. I sat down beside this object – pehaps a clock? – and snapped a few photos. I loved the fog or steam (or whatever that particle cloud is) that was being emitted. And it seemed to be a nice quiet spot for reflection.

You can click the photo for a larger image with more (blurry) detail.

This is another place in Second Life I found using the Destination Guide. If you haven’t used this resource before, I highly recommend it. You can access it either from the Second Life website under the “What Next?” tab, or you can bring it up from most viewers in world.

I’m looking forward to next week’s challenge. This week is passing in a blur, so it won’t be long before another one comes around 😉

Oh, if you want to check out where I discovered this challenge, please click the link to this post by one of my very favourite Second Life bloggers, Strawberry Singh.
