I originally set up this scene using some of the fabulous props from Kuro for the upcoming music-themed shopping event, Rhapsody with the thought of a smokey nightclub feel. I wanted it to be moody and evocative of the 1940s, so I chose to go with a black & white version.

I think I ended up with it seeming kind of creepy instead…rather of like the song, “Every Breath You Take” by The Police. At first it may seem to be an expression of love. But if you look and listen closely, isn’t it rather stalkerish?

I’m not into fantasy or role play so I don’t usually visit Genre, but when I saw the theme this round was “Big Bands” I had to go. And I am happy I did.

S Is For She Of The Mountains

In Hindu culture, Parvati, “She of the mountains,” is the consort of Shiva, the Supreme God within Shaivism. But she is a goddess in her own right, the goddess of Power and the source of all power and weapons. She can be both wrathful and benevolent. In some legends, she is the woman behind the man but in others she is superior to Shiva. She is, in other words, the prototypical woman, showing her strength in various incarnations.

Also from Hindu culture comes Saraswati, the goddess of knowledge, nature, arts and music. She represents enlightenment, creativity and eloquence. She is also multi-faceted and a role model for everyone.

From Greek mythology is Athena, the goddess of knowledge, strength, just warfare and the arts. She is one of the strongest goddesses in Greek culture. In fact, city of Athens was named for her.

Gods and goddesses is the motif at this month’s round of The Theme Park. You can find inspiration from all three of these goddesses – Parvati by Sax Shepherd Design, Saraswati from .:CoLLisions:. and Athena from Coquet. Each offers a beautiful representation of they goddess they have chosen.

Here is a closer look at Parvati, the stunning jewels and the front of the lovely tatto inspired by Saraswati. Obviously, the designers of this round of The Theme Park have drawn on the creativity and knowledge of the goddesses they have chosen to honour.
