Anyone who says that Second Life is separate from real life is sadly mistaken. Whether you wander around as a nymph, Gorean warrior or super model, you are in some way reflecting the real you in a virtual world. Everything you touch, everything you create, everything you imagine is a little bit of who you are – or who you want to be.

For Serene Footman, his dose of reality comes in the form of recreating Furillen in Second Life. This hauntingly beautiful sim is his homage to the island off the coast of Sweden. This snippet from the Furillen in Second Life blog explains his vision:

Furillen is a sim within the virtual world, Second Life. It depicts an island off the north-east coast of Sweden containing abandoned industrial builds that were once part of a former limestone factory. Remote, bleak and beautiful, this is a Second Life photographers haven. The sim now attracts around 300 visitors per day.

The sim was designed to retain some of the most distinct and recognisable features of the real Furillen: the airstream, the tree line and pier, for example, together with the large slag heaps that still exist as a reminder of the old quarry. In addition, there are several buildings, the main being a hotel that – on the virtual Furillen – doubles up as an art space with a series of rooms featuring minimalist installations.

Darling Monday has released the Portia heels with legwarmers for the January round of Collabor88. Because they’re from fri.day, you know they’re the highest quality and fit for your Maitreya Lara or Slink Physique body. There are 9 shoe colours, each with 8 different legwarmer colours in a HUD. They are sure to go with just about anything in your wardrobe.

The latest mainstore release from Blueberry is the Sera dress with sweater. I’m probably not telling you anything new; I’ve seen this dress in dozens of blog and Flickr photos, but when something looks as good as this combo, you can’t blame a girl for wanting to trot it out frequently.

Don’t waste time getting your tongue all twisted; spend it getting into Collabor88!

Yes, I realise this photo is a bit more risque than I normally publish on my blog, but I really wanted to find a way to showcase this harness from Salt & Pepper for the upcoming round of ROMP. It is very delicate and pretty and if you are the harness-wearing type, you really must have it.

This isn’t the shot I originally intended. It started out as just me, the rug and the tree. However, after some very careful pose editing and creative camera angling to cover my bits, I realised I needed to move the rug. Unfortunately, when I attempted to do that, it moved me (silly woman! I should have used my LUMIPro pose stand before editing my pose!). That meant I had to bring in Chance to move stuff for me. But once I had the rug and tree in the right location, I noticed I had a lot of negative space in the left side of the photo. I still had the Apple Fall wall on my platform from my shoot yesterday, so I had him drag it over to fill the space. That’s when I decided to stick him in the doorway and include him in the photo. I did a bit more editing of my head position (throwing it back), tossed on my LeLutka head, closed my eyes, opened my mouth and I transformed what was originally a rather PG photo into the R-rated version you see here.

I think having a male alt brings out the voyeuristic side of me.

Gulp. Again.
