I said I wouldn’t give up. And I won’t. I’m still trying to find the key that unlocks landscape photography for me. So far, I only seem to be knocking at the door with nobody home and not even a credit card to my name to try to pick the lock. But I’ll persevere.
I visited a spot yesterday (it’s not a public place, so I can’t give you a ride to check it out) and was captivated by the amazing view from the mountain-top lookout there. I was given permission to take photos and share them, though I’m afraid I didn’t do this glorious outlook justice. The vast expanse of mountains, river and sky took my breath away. I’ll blame my amazement at the view on the poor quality of the shots 😉
I’ll keep working on it, though. I am constantly dazzled by the creations of the residents of Second Life. And I’ll continue to hone my skills so I can try to give you a glimpse of the wonder I encounter whenever I wander our virtual world. Whether by the sea, in an art gallery or aviary, or on top of the mountain.

I like the second one better. Think in terms of framing the image as the eye would capture it, this often helps me…
Thanks for the tip, Nathaniel 🙂 I “think” I’m seeing it one way when I take the shot, but it doesn’t seem to come out on the actual image. But I’ll keep working at this – I’m determined!
I might have tried that first one either with a lower camera angle- looking over at the peak and the waterfall rather than down at it- or with something more in the foreground on left or right (say, a tree?), to help with framing. Both are very accomplished shots technically: I just like the composition on the second one better!

This is the fun with sl photography. Just like art it speaks to different people in individual ways. I actually like photo one over the second one.
Thanks, PB 🙂 I’m planning on going back and reshooting, maybe from the top of the waterfall looking down. Or on the ground looking up. Or maybe I’ll just go back to the overlook and try from that perspective again 🙂
I always did like taking landscape shots. Maybe because of my love for the outfoors. Like you I still am finding my groove. But don’t sell yourself short. These caught my eye and you will only get better 🙂
