Gluttony For A Cause

As a general rule, you shouldn’t stuff yourself with food until you are ready to burst. But in Second Life, it’s fine to cram your inventory with the finest delicacies from around the world – especially if you visit the MadPea International Food Fair, running from February 18 – March 4. This is a charitable event, with 50% of all proceeds going to Feed a Smile, a charity that helps impoverished children in the Rhonda Slums of Nakuru, Kenya. Specifically, the donations will go to build a kitchen for school children. For more information, visit this post on the MadPea website. It even includes a real-time counter of the total the event has raised for this cause.

In addition to the shopping, there are live music events scheduled regularly, plus an art exhibit curated by Kultivate Magazine. It is an event for everyone, whether you are a shopper, a music fan or an art enthusiast.

So, go ahead and make a pig of yourself. It’s gluttony for a good cause.

A bit of a romantic vintage look today, thanks to the beautiful creations from 22769 ~ [bauwerk], Apple Fall, {what next}, [ keke ] and more. There are several romance-themed events going on this month, and The Liaison Collaborative is a standout. But don’t forget about the joy of wandering into a main store to see the latest releases and perhaps finding a vintage gem. [ keke ] has a few recent main store releases, along with classics you may have missed before. My photo shows several of these hidden treasures; you will just have to visit to get them for yourself.

I found myself relaxing in this vintage room, dreaming romantic dreams…filled with puppies, poufs and pom-poms.

Too Stinkin’ Hot To Blog

I interrupt my regularly scheduled blogging to try to get relief from an historic heatwave in Sydney. Not only is this the hottest summer in general since they began keeping records, but the last three days here have been comparable to the middle of the Gobi Desert, Death Valley or the bowels of hell itself. While I normally relish the weekends, I find myself longing for our air conditioned offices at work on this muggy Sunday morning. Not for my job; just for the cool air. No, I don’t have air con at home. And sitting at my computer is the equivalent of sitting in front of a roaring fireplace or inside a blast furnace; I’m not sure which at this point. Maybe both. At the same time.

My inspiration has melted, along with my deodorant, my disposition and even my will to live. I am holding on for the cool change promised later this evening, although my grip is slipping due to the sweat that is dripping from my fingertips as they slip and slide across the keyboard. My eyes are watering, although I am not sure if it is from perspiration or tears of despair.

I plan on catching up on blogging during the week, once this hellfire subsides.
