My Avatar’s Private Life Challenge: Inventory (Mis)Management

This week, Miss Berry, compliments of Winter Jefferson, wants to know what we think our avatars get up to while we’re offline. I admit I’ve wondered about this myself, so it was really just a matter of shooting a photo to illustrate it.

This is actually a two-part meme. We can choose to do one or both of the challenges. Don’t you love multiple choice exams where you get to pick which questions you answer?

Here’s what we’ve been asked to do:

So, to explain my photograph about what I believe my avatar does when I log off: I have long bemoaned the disarray in my inventory. I am fully convinced that Peep, the avatar, waits only long enough for me to sign out to dive headfirst into my inventory and wreak havoc. Undoubtedly, she drags carefully filed items out of their folders back into the root directory, pulls the dozens of items I have put in the trash (but not cleared) and sneakily stuffs them back where they came from, writes notecards to clog up that folder, and yes, even strips off, pulls her hair up, fills the tub and bathes with my shoes!

So, believing I might catch her up to no good, I planned my own sneak attack, logged in as an alt and caught her in the act! Look at her – she doesn’t even have the decency to look guilty! Hell, she doesn’t even have the decency to look decent O.o

I’m only going to do part one of the challenge – as you can probably tell, I’ll be very busy cleaning up this mess and replacing all of the shoes she ruined 😦

Yep, as soon as I saw a preview of the gacha items for Devious Minds at the OMG Gacha event, I knew I had to do whatever it took to get this sign! It is as if Chandra Meehan made it just for me 😀

And of course, as is the way with gachas, I had to dump a small fortune into the machine before I scored the Peep Show sign I desperately wanted – even if it is a Common item! I racked up three Rares and multiple other Commons before I finally was rewarded with my personalised sign. Ah, the thrill of it! No wonder gachas are so popular – it’s the anticipation, the sorrow and joy, the excitement when you finally earn the reward.

I can only say that if the creators in SL continue to devise such clever and whimsical items for gacha festivals, they will continue to rake in the cash while the rest of us happily enjoy the thrill of the chase.

1 Kufi Seven Deadly Sins_022J

I guess it’s probably politically incorrect to wear a kufi with a dress called “Seven Deadly Sins – Vanity”, but I took the “vanity” part to heart and just wore what looked good to me. I don’t like to discuss either religion or politics, so I’ll just talk about the gifts 😉

Funny story about this dress. My friend, Rwah, sent it to me when I was offline a few days ago. It’s a prize from the Fantasy Gacha Carnival going on now. I saw her message offline, but sadly, my IMs had been capped and when I logged on, her message was nowhere to be found. I nearly cried, knowing the gift she sent me was transfer only.

But this afternoon, while going through my Objects folder, there it was! Of all of the Seven Deadly Sins dresses I had seen in blog posts, this was by far my favourite. Leave it to Rwah to know my taste 🙂

To top it all, John sent me his latest hat, the kufi, which I thought would work with this dress. I’m going to say now, having an inventory full of older stuff comes in handy – I spent quite a lot of time editing this flexi-hair from Analog Dog, because I wanted long wavy locks to compliment this outfit. I was going to post a picture of myself without the hat after editing – talk about hat hair! But, alas, my computer is being very naughty and I’ve barely been able to complete this post (knock on wood that I am able to finish it before it crashes again 😦 )

So, thank you to Rwah and John for making this girl very happy today – gifties galore!
