Weekly Photo Challenge: Patterns – The 9 Art Planets

1 Lea20 230

I’m back on track with the Weekly Photo Challenge after missing out last week. When I saw the prompt, “Patterns”, I knew there was a multitude of choices in Second Life for this theme. I went to my standby, the Destination Guide, and I wasn’t disappointed.

I was immediately drawn to The Nine Art Planets, which is described as ” an art installation to give visitors nine different emotional feelings, reflected through subconscious minds. Inspired by a variety of immersive artists, this is one installation you don’t want to miss.” It is a riot of colour, sound, and experience.

The patterns are mesmerizing, the music is primal, and the entire experience is a bit surreal. You will receive a HUD on arrival – wear it, and click to the various areas of the installations. You won’t be disappointed.

For those of you unfamiliar with LEA, it’s the Linden Endowment for the Arts. You can read more by checking out the link on the Second Life Wiki page for LEA. It’s well worth checking out more of the installations. I’ll try to add more visits soon.

You can check out more of the Weekly Photo Challenge entries by clicking this link and going to the comments section.

If you happen to click on one of my photos, you’ll notice it takes you to my Flickr page. I’ve lost my Add Media button on my post editor, so rather than spend more time trying to figure out how to get it back, I’ve just added the photos to Flickr. Fixed!

Embracing Her Shadow

We all have one – a darker side. A side we try to avoid. It’s borne of fear and perhaps, shame. The side we keep hidden.

At some point in our journey to self-awareness, we must embrace the shadow. To discover those hidden elements of our lives that so often control our thoughts and actions. But the difficulty lies in deciding what is the shadow and what is our self.

Sometimes it takes reflection. And sometimes in the dark of the night, the moonlight shines through and reflects back on us, allowing us a glimpse of what is buried inside.

1 Shadow or herself

In that moment, we can embrace our shadow and allow it freedom – to let us learn and grow.

I’ve decided this will be my entry for this week’s Single Frame Stories post on “Self.”

My Second Life Haiku Meme – Pink Cheeks, Oh So Warm

Oh geez, she wants us to write poetry? She wants us to get all literary and creative and stuff? Somebody stop her!

This week’s meme challenge from Strawberry (yeah, she’d better prance!) Singh, is to write a haiku about our Second Life. I’m sure you all had to write one in school at some point – it’s a Japanese style of poetry, consisting of three lines, the first with five syllables, the second with seven and the third with five again.

Here are the instructions:

So the meme for this week is, write a Haiku about your Second Life. Remember to leave your link in this meme’s post so others can come by and read your answers as well!

Well, time for this buttercup to suck it up and show you just how bad I am at this!

1 Haiku Rain

Usually smiles
But sometimes it rains til the
Sunshine peeps back in

Crawls into a hole
Her head hung deeply in shame
Pink cheeks, oh so warm.
