A brand new tattoo. An ocean breeze. The invitation of a calm, cool cove. What do all of these things have in common? They’re all fresh.

The Weekly Photo Challenge invites us to show our definition of the word. I combined this lovely tattoo from chocolate atelier (a TGGS hunt prize) with this refreshing scene to bring you my interpretation.

Though a tattoo will fade in time, the weather will cool and the skies will darken, on this afternoon they all combined to give me a fresh outlook across our island. All that’s missing is a sparkling cocktail and the company of my sweetheart and it would have been perfect 😉

Weekly Photo Challenge: The Golden Hour – The Suns Slowly Fades In All Of His Glory

Sunset over New Polebarkia

I was happy to see this week’s photo challenge, “The Golden Hour”, since I have been doing a lot of sunrise and sunset photos lately. Living on an island makes that a no-brainer. And with unlimited windlight settings, it is easy to create the golden hour, regardless of the time of day. Cheating, maybe, but that is one of the perks of inhabiting a virtual world. So sue me 😉

I took this shot looking west from outside our home. While I love the coolness of the sunrise, it is the glorious warmth of a sunset that speaks to me most. The glow of the sun reflected on the clouds and the water is a reminder to me of the accomplishments of the day. But it is also an admonition that when tomorrow comes, it will be time to forget the achievements of yesterday and make our mark – no matter how lofty or simple – in the dawning of a new day. As the sun rises again to travel his path toward the fading of his glory once more, make the most of whatever your goals may be.

Weekly Photo Challenge: Companionable – Little Wonders

Even in Second Life, creatures form a part of our life. These little wonders become our companions, our friends, our source of laughter and joy.

I snapped this photo about a week ago while I was playing with my Kittycats. I had plopped down on this blanket, ostensibly to read, and the pose with my virtual cats reminded me so much of the behaviour of those in the corporeal world, I laughed out loud. Attention-seeking, wrapping themselves around me, rolling on top of my book to encourage a belly rub…just so much like my “real” little ball of fur that I swear I could feel the tickle of their whiskers and hear the rumble of their purring.

In the background, you can see my attack penguin guarding us. He will follow you around like a little puppy if granted that pleasure, but I still think he’s happiest when he is patrolling, keeping the home front safe from…whatever it is that virtual penguins deem to be a threat.
