Weekly Photo Challenge: Change – Stepping Out & Stepping Up

The Weekly Photo Challenge this week is about Change. It’s the perfect opportunity to introduce my new showroom and studio!

1 Pics by Peep Showroom

I originally set up a showroom on a ballroom sim. It didn’t generate any traffic, so I opened one at Breaking The Rules, the club where I work. I began to get more referrals from that location, in addition to the continued recommendations from my friends. While I have my work on display there, I did my photo shoots at home.

With the increase in work, I decided it was time to turn my little cottage industry into a full-fledged business. I found a parcel of land where I can set up a full showroom in addition to having my photo studio at that location. I still have the showroom at BTR, but this is now my main place of business.

I’m still in the process of decorating it, but it’s open to the public and I invite you all to come check out the new Pics by Peep showroom.

Change in Second Life is to be expected. Friendships and relationships grow and falter, businesses open, then move or close. I’ve learned a lot about embracing change from my time there. As Heraclitus said, “Nothing is permanent but change.”

Here’s to stepping out and stepping up!

Be sure to check out the other entries this week in the comments section of the Weekly Photo Challenge: Change post.

Single Frame Stories – Hero

1 Hero_043

How sleep the brave, who sink to rest, By all their country’s wishes blest! . . . . By fairy hands their knell is rung, By forms unseen their dirge is sung.
William Collins Quotes , Source: Ode, written in 1746

Thanks to all who have given their service – and their lives – for our freedom. This is my entry for this week’s Single Frame Stories Blog. The prompt is “Hero.”

This photo was taken at the Operation Enduring Freedom Memorial in Second Life. Please visit this memorial dedicated to those who lost their lives in Afghanistan. It is focused on American soldiers, but I consider it a commemoration for all who have fought and died there.

Special thanks to my sweetheart, who not only served, but helped me choose a fitting image for this entry.

My 10 SL Firsts Meme – I Thought I Was So Cool, But I Was…

1 ColdLogic_046

Yes, Miss Berry loves being nosy! And maybe enjoys watching us squirm 😀

This week’s meme challenge is to tell about our SL firsts. I can guarantee there will be some blank spots – not just because it is embarrassing, but I really don’t remember. In fact, some I’ve deliberately erased from my memory! Make sure you check out Berry’s firsts and the comments section of the post for other embarrassing moments.

Here are Berry’s instructions.

Meme instructions: Copy and paste the following 10 questions and answers into your post. Delete my answers and input your own. Don’t forget to link your post in this meme’s comments so everyone can read yours!

First SL Friend: Cindy. She actually dragged me kicking and screaming into SL from another virtual world. She played very heavily in the first couple of years of my Second Life. Alas, we’ve grown apart and I think I’ve only spoken to her once in the past year.

First SL Kiss: I can’t remember the guy’s name. I was VERY new and I thought we were going to dance. Instead, the poseballs put us into a clinch worthy of Joe Louis and Mohammad Ali! I was so new I didn’t realise I could just stand to get out of it, so I did the noble thing and poofed instead 😀

First SLex time/place/partner: OK, this may be cheating, but it was actually not me (Peep) that had SLex. It was my husband (at the time) who took me into SL as one of his alts (female) and showed me what it was like. I was too busy laughing at the poseballs to be able to remember the place. This was actually back in 2007 or 2008, before I joined SL myself.

First SL Partner/Girlfriend/Boyfriend/Wife/Husband: Romeoheart Vyper was my first boyfriend. We’re still very good friends and I even attended his wedding recently. I’ve never been partnered or married.

First SL Job: A dancer at Miss Barbie’s Place, a big booby club. I’ve mentioned before the trauma this place left me with and it was my friend, Cindy, who got me the job there. I have recurring nightmares of the prim boobs we had to wear. That is probably why I have such an aversion to Lola’s now!

First SL Creation: Um…I think the only thing I’ve ever managed to create (besides chaos) is a box. And I was damned proud of that! 😀

Oh, I take that back. I (sorta) created a bacon ‘stache 😀 This is my sweetheart wearing it…umm…proudly! (Can’t you tell from the look on his face????) And yes, CD’s laser beams ARE cooking his bacon crisp :p

First Encounter with a Linden: Four and a half years in SL, and I’ve never met a Linden. I’ve watched some of Torley’s videos; does that count?

First Encounter with a SLebrity: Hmmm. I think the only time I’ve encountered a celebrity of any type was when I had delivery problems with an item I purchased and contacted the creator. Being such a shopaholic, I consider designers celebrities. I think the first one – and truly a lovely woman – was Nena Janus of League. She actually apologised that Second Life ate my new jeans and shirts!

First SL Sim you fell in love with: Sadly, it’s gone now. Isla Clairveaux was a beautiful sim that changed with every season. I do miss going and discovering all of the fun and wonderful things Claire had found for each new season 😦

First SL Blog Post: That’s easy since I’ve been blogging for less than 3 months lol. My entrance to SL blogging is here. However, I’ll give you a couple of bonuses: a photo of my first avatar AND my first “fashion shot”!

And now, I’m going to go stick my head in the freezer to cool my hot, blushing cheeks!
