Deviously Delicious Designs

1 Erratic_021B

I really hate love when a designer launches a release and I immediately think, “Gotta have that!” I’m not shy about shopping, and I am fortunate enough to be able to buy pretty much what I want, so it’s normally a cause for celebration, not angst. I’m usually decisive about a style that I want; it’s when the devious designer releases so many colours or prints that I like that the trouble begins. That’s what happened when I saw the new Briony shorts and Cary double tank tops from erratic. I was in a total state of panic. Which to choose??? It is a cruel dilemma, to be sure! And just so you can be dazzled by these new items, you can drool over them on erratic’s blog or the Marketplace store (sort by Age: Newest First to go directly to the most recent releases).

Now, I will admit to succumbing to fatpack fever on many occasions. But I’m trying to be more disciplined when it comes to shopping. I agonised long and hard over the decision and finally went with the white shorts (which are surprisingly sparse in my wardrobe) and the very summery stripes-lemon tank. The tank has a system layer underneath the mesh top that tucks into the shorts, or you can be more daring and forgo the layer to bare your toned and tanned tummy. It’s just the outfit for a warm day, and this colour goes perfectly with the cup of lemonade I grabbed to revitalise me after my agonising decision!

On another note (so this doesn’t turn out to be totally a fashion post), I was pleased my Picmonkey tutorials were included in the SL Blogger Support photo processing list. While I was checking out the page, I noticed Harlow Heslop’s Photoshop Essentials Tutorial. I have been a follower of her blog for quite a long time and I remember when she posted this. However, at the time I hadn’t yet started using PS and while I read it when it was published, I promptly forgot about it. But now that I’m trying to tame that particular beast, I revisited it and attempted to use her tips on blur in the photo above. It’s yet another effect I have to perfect, but I do like how the ocean is less focused, leading the eye to the subject of the picture – me and these deviously delicious designs 😉

Uncommonly Rare

1 Arcade June_Uncommonly Rare

Sighs. I’m glad The Arcade only comes around once every three months, or I would be perpetually broke! I blogged about my beloved Happy Poo Skirt back in March at the last Arcade. This time, there was once again an item that I dearly wanted. Strangely enough, it was also a Common item – not a rare. And it cost me dearly!

You see, Strawberry Singh blogged the [Ladies Who Lunch] Grey Throne collar and cuff set as a sneak preview a week or so ago, and I instantly fell in love. After multiple attempts, I finally made it into The Arcade today, and after crashing four times, I finally was able to find the LWL gacha machine. Wouldn’t you know it, after my first six attempts, I have five of the six Rares, but not the Grey Throne I craved! I’m not a trader, and I was fearful of crashing again and not being able to get back, so I started hitting a few more gachas. And I got lucky with a LOT of Rares! I still haven’t finished sorting through all of my goodies, but I have been so pleased with my winnings that I will attempt to put together a few more posts to show them off!

Just before I left, I decided to give the LWL gacha L$75 one…more…time. Eureka! There was my Grey Throne!

Hurrying home, I quickly unpacked my collar and cuffs, tossed on my Rare skirt from tulip., my Cafe pumps from Ingenue, my Red Eye Flight hair from Clawtooth, and my very first Glam Affair skin, Lulu 4. I know the flowers don’t really match my outfit, but I wanted to use this Rare pose from Adorkable – my absolute favourite pose maker, who is, sadly, going out of business 😦 So you can be sure I took more than one spin at that machine! In fact, everything I’m wearing in this photo, except my top and eyes, came from this round of The Arcade.

Here are the credits – I wish you luck in winning your favourites!

I Raise My Glass

Second Life is a great place to learn that nothing is permanent. People change partners so fast sometimes it makes my head spin. I’ve lived in the same location for almost a year, but in that time, I’ve had more neighbours than I can count – some only staying a month or less. The staff at the club where I work seems to be on fast forward – often I don’t have a chance to meet a new host or DJ before they’re gone. And shops move location constantly…and quite often, close.

So I guess it shouldn’t have been a shock to me that one of my favourite clothing stores was going out of business. Drinkinstein Sorbet, the owner and creator at The Sea Hole announced last month that she was closing the doors of The Sea Hole. I didn’t see this notice until after she hadn’t appeared at Collabor88 in May and I wondered at that time if she was just taking a break or if this was a sign that she would be closing. You see, she was also the mastermind behind what has become my favourite shopping event – Collabor88. While it will continue, I will be disappointed that she won’t be contributing any longer. My hope is that she will come back from time to time to with some of her amazing work for this event.

I really should have done this post before the store closed on May 31st. I went to the shop for the second time on the last day and bought everything I had wanted in the past, but couldn’t afford at the time. My all-time favourite design is her Romance top, shown above. I now proudly own it in all six colours, along with so many of her kitschier offerings.

I doubt you’ll see this post, Drink, but my wish for you is that you are off doing whatever it is that makes you happy. And I raise my glass to you.
