1 A is for Asteria Creations

Vanessa Blaylock (having lost a couple of e’s from her name) is at it again. She has come up with a great daily challenge for bloggers! Starting on April 1, we are to share an item from our inventory daily…alphabetically. Since we are dealing with the English alphabet that means this is a 26-day challenge. I have no doubt I can complete this one without having to buy a single item. In fact, I’m going to try to make that my personal goal. I’m not saying I won’t buy anything during the next 26 days (heaven forbid!). I just won’t buy anything specifically for this challenge.

You can read more in detail about the challenge over at irez.me. I am both daunted and excited about this challenge. It means I must plan ahead and make sure I blog daily. In fact, I went ahead and shot the photo for my “B” post right after my “A” so I have one in hand.

But for today, it’s all about “A” and that stands for Asteria Creations. I picked up this jumpsuit at Limited Bazaar on Sunday, so it qualifies as not being purchased just for this challenge. The fact that it was sitting in my “Recent” tab just made it easier for me to find 😉 And I guess this can be a double A day – my hair is from Analog Dog!

Once again, I find myself doing an nonseasonal challenge. While I was feeling springy/summery at the beginning of the antipodean autumn, I am still feeling that way now. Perhaps it is because it has been rather warm so far this autumn with quite a lot of rain. Whatever the reason, I am not in the mood to revolt this time around and start up an opposite-season challenge of my own 😉 Instead, I will just play along happily with Miss Berry.

Here is what she has asked us to do for this challenge:

1. What is the spring season like where you live? – Living on the east coast of Australia, we don’t have harsh winters. So spring really kind of creeps up on us. It gradually warms throughout the day and begins to be a bit warmer at night. We have rain, but then we do during all seasons (not so much summer, except for thunderstorms). Since we don’t have deciduous trees and we have native plants that bloom all year around the biggest difference is the type of flowers that blossom.

2. What’s the first thing that pops into your head when you think of spring? – Butterflies, tulips, daffodils – in short, colour! I grew up in the U.S. midwest, so when I think of spring, I think of that transformation from brown grass, bare trees and snow to a green lawn, budding branches and flowers bursting with colour. A close second to the bright colours, though, is the warmth of the sun on my face.

3. Which spring-themed sim in Second Life is your favorite at the moment? – There are so many sims now that change with every season that I love, but the one that stays springy all year around is Wanderstill, Ode, where I shot this picture. It not only doesn’t change for the seasons, it has remained very much as it is now for several years. That is what makes it such a familiar favourite of mine.

While I am not a fantasy-type girl, the butterflies of spring were the inspiration for my photo. I’m not a wings person, either (not counting my Red Wings 😉 ) but these from VERO MODERO are just stunning. They may be meant to be angel wings, but for me, they completed my butterfly effect.

Living In The Wild, Wild West

I’ve had the song by The Escape Club running through my head since I started working on the photos for The Challenge – it isn’t that bad as far as earworms go, but it is still an earworm! I am hoping by getting this post done I can also banish this song from my memory. If not, I’m sure it will feature in at least one of my DJ sets later this week 😉

As you may have deduced, the theme for The Challenge this month is “Wild, Wild West.” If you are looking for a rustic build or decor items, then this is the event for you.

The western store by [hate this] is really amazing. It weighs in at only 35 LI and has a HUD so you can customise the sign, the colour of the attached shed and the wood on the front of the store. It is materials enabled, so it will catch the movement of the setting sun. It could even be used as western home, since you can remove the sign completely – or add your own if you choose.

There is a separate decor pack which includes barrels, coffins, a watering trough and burlap sacks, each with a materials enabled version or standard. You can mix and match to your heart’s content.

Next is this detailed wagon from Cleo Design. There are actually two versions available – this one with the barrels and pillow and another with cactus nesting in the wagon. Two people can sit in the version I am showing. LI is 16-18, depending on whether or not you include the two barrels as shown.

From Sway’s comes this lovely bench with a western flair. There are three versions to choose from and for the first week of The Challenge, you can pick them up for 20% off. There are a ton of poses for singles, friends and cuddling. You can see some of the items from the [hate this] decor pack in this photo, as well.

And finally is this mug tree from Kuro. You can have a cup of coffee from the mugs and if your horse is suffering a fashion crisis, you could always disassemble the mug tree for a new pair of shoes. Well, maybe not, but we know I’m a shoe-loving gal, so I would probably try 😉

The Challenge runs from today until April 29th, so saddle up and head to the stores to grab these nifty items with a western theme. And I won’t be unhappy if you get “Wild, Wild West” stuck in your head…it might get it out of mine!
