Milestones and Moments

Life isn’t a matter of milestones, but of moments.
Rose Kennedy

This is my 100th blog post. I’ve been thinking about it for about a week, knowing it was coming up. I wanted to do something different for it, since it’s a milestone. I’ve been trying to come up with some sort of a special photograph to go along with it – a new location, a new technique, something different.

But my inspiration failed me.

It’s been a good week for me, in many ways. I have reached daily and weekly highs on views of my blog, I hit 100 blog followers (not counting Facebook followers), and I won my first photo contest. But a couple of comments and events in Second Life upset me, and I’ve barely logged on. Oh, well…we appreciate the sunshine more after the rain, right? I’ll get over it and I’ll soon be prancing my way happily through SL again soon, drama be damned.

Instead, I’ve decided that the moments are more important than the milestone. So rather than stress over an all new photo for this post, I have created a gallery of some companion shots of those I’ve blogged before. Most are new edits; the others are ones that for one reason or another, I didn’t choose at the time. But each one represents a moment in the evolution of my journey.

You can click on a photo to enlarge it, or just glance over the thumbnails. Either way, this is a glimpse of my story thus far.

Thank you for being a part of my world. This blog has come to be a reflection of who I am. Each moment I share here lets you see a bit more of who I am. Not just Peep, but the real me.

I hope you stick around for the next 100…and more.

What A Surprise!

I’ve spent a LOT of time today on my post for tomorrow (it’s time sensitive, so you’ll have to stay tuned for more details *wink*), but I still wanted to post something today. Since I’ve been playing with Photoshop, I’ve been going through a lot of my old raw shots and screwing them up experimenting with them. I found some photos I shot at Image Essentials. That was a busy week for me, and although I processed a couple of photos and posted them to my Flickr page, I never actually blogged them.

So, since I decided I needed a quick post, I opened up the folder, and to my utter amazement, I found one I liked…that I hadn’t touched in any way! I’ve even left it in it’s original crop.

That made me think of a personal challenge Chic Aeon did a few weeks ago – Just One Shot Revisited. This is a personal challenge she used to do and recently did again. I decided to borrow her challenge to make this entry actually have a theme.

And without further ado, here is my “Just One Shot” photograph.

Oh…while I was uploading this picture, I found the two versions I had previously processed already in my media library. I guess I’d planned on using them, then forgot! But, I still think I like this one better 🙂

I know I’ve mentioned in previous posts that Chic Aeon is one of my favourite bloggers. This is my (pathetic) attempt at honouring her and her fabulous work 🙂

Single Frame Stories – Hero

1 Hero_043

How sleep the brave, who sink to rest, By all their country’s wishes blest! . . . . By fairy hands their knell is rung, By forms unseen their dirge is sung.
William Collins Quotes , Source: Ode, written in 1746

Thanks to all who have given their service – and their lives – for our freedom. This is my entry for this week’s Single Frame Stories Blog. The prompt is “Hero.”

This photo was taken at the Operation Enduring Freedom Memorial in Second Life. Please visit this memorial dedicated to those who lost their lives in Afghanistan. It is focused on American soldiers, but I consider it a commemoration for all who have fought and died there.

Special thanks to my sweetheart, who not only served, but helped me choose a fitting image for this entry.
