1 That 70s Pic sm

I made poor Serene pay for perving me while I was doing my last shoot at Furillen; I needed a male model to pose with me in my 70’s gear from Vintage Fair. Since poor Chance is stuck in a modern hipster look, I dragged Serene over to fill in for my sadly neglected MALT. Didn’t he do it admirably????

I have to give him a special thank you for so gallantly coming to my rescue and posing for me with no complaints. I did do him the courtesy of creating the set and even selecting the pose before I hauled him over; otherwise, I fear the Janitor might have been fired for being absent from his job for too long.

I have no credits for Serene’s look. It is his very unique persona, so if you want to know what he is wearing, you’ll have to ask him yourself!

As for me, as always, the credits for every little scrap of my attire, set and pose are on display for you below.

1 A Flock of Birds & A Jug of Roses sm

When I am in the middle of photographing a lot of review copies, I often find myself getting stressed. Not because I “have” to blog them, but because I am worried I won’t do them justice. I have been known to scrap entire shoots, which often take hours to stage and photograph. Those are typically the shoots that I know while I am photographing just aren’t right, but I tell myself with just one more light change or camera angle, I’ll get something usable. It is a rationalisation that rarely works.

That happened to me today. I had already completed two shoots (more posts to come!), and I wanted to get the Olivia Sandals from fri.day done. My previous two shoots were Home & Garden and just didn’t lend themselves to me being in the picture. So, I decided to sim-hop to find a perfect location.

After visiting about six and either not finding what I wanted or being lagged out, I headed home, deciding instead to build my own set. Which I did. Which I photographed.

Which I hated.

So, I gave up. And went shopping. Then decided to put together a set for some therapeutic “just because” photography. And guess what? I plopped my avi-self down, changed my camera angle to only take in a small portion of the space I had created and found my photo.

A flock of birds, a jug of roses and some kick-arse sandals.

I could have kept my mouth shut and you would have thought this was all planned. But hey…desperation is the mother of necessity.

Or however that saying goes…

Urban Haven

If you are a fan of an urban theme, or just in the mood to create an urban haven, you’re in luck right now in Second Life! The theme for The Liaison Collaborative May round is “Urban Jungle” and there are loads of great edgy items to pick up. From the gachas from [Toiz] to the regular purchases from [Fetch], 22769 ~ [bauwerk], Industry 7 and unKindness, you have a plethora of choices of products and buying method. It is a round that you really can’t miss!

Also continuing the urban theme is, of course, 6 Republic, where you can populate your home or garden with more urban-ish things. [ keke ]‘s London set is, as always, beautifully crafted with a choice of a dark or light style and of course, a bit of tasteful bling. The pieces can be purchased separately, but DO splash out on all of them. They’re just lovely!

And while the theme for Collabor88 is “Americana,” the guitar props from {what next} are so versatile they can easily fit into an urban setting. The guitar case is my favourite, with a variety of print textures at a touch to announce your venue’s acts, or to simply make a statement in your own loft.

Go forth and shop. Your urban haven isn’t going to create itself.
