Three-Six-Five

1 365_038

Yesterday was a big day for my little blog. It turned one year old. It was also the day with the highest number of views since I started. I am humbled and thankful to everyone who has stopped by over the past year, whether the casual viewer or the dedicated friend.

Since I did a retrospective for the New Year, I’m just going to sit back and give myself a wee pat on the back for hitting this milestone. Yes, it would have happened whether I was an active blogger or if I had just opened the account and let this page languish. But I have spent a lot of hours photographing, processing, sweating, laughing and crying for this tiny little mark on the interwebs. I am sending out big hugs to those people who have been with me since the beginning and have joined me along the way. You know who you are; if you are reading this post, you may consider yourself hugged ❤

The photo has nothing to do with an anniversary edition. I just felt like dressing up and looking pretty. No shame in admitting I think I am pretty; it’s my party and I’ll preen if I want to.

Happy Anniversary to me!

How NOT To Bathe A Cat

1 How NOT to bathe a cat

I mentioned a couple of days ago that I gave my cat a bath. There she was, poor dear, minding her own business on the balcony – and she got pooped on by a pigeon 😦 I hadn’t bathed her yet this summer so it was the impetus I needed to go ahead and do it.

What surprised me was how many people commented on how brave I was to give her a bath. To be honest, she doesn’t mind water – in fact, she has been known to push open the shower door and join me, sitting just at the edge of the spray and she loves to drink from and play with the water running from the tap. On top of that, I have been bathing her since she was a kitten and she is now a regal nine years old. She isn’t crazy about the shampoo, but I make sure I have a firm grip on her and get on to the rinsing in a hurry.

I made a list of the steps on how to bathe a cat in my comments, then I thought it would be fun to show how to do it in my blog. Sadly, I couldn’t find all of the bits and pieces I needed so that is how this ended up as a “How Not To” post, instead.

Second Life Helpful Tools Meme: Gadgets & Stuff

1 Helpful Tools Meme - Interface 1

Oh hai there! I’ve not completed either of Berry’s memes since she came back from her holiday break. Naughty, lazy, lost all of my practical joke photos when my external drive crashed – take your pick for my reason(s) why. But since I was in SL when Berry posted her latest AND I was taking photos already, I decided to hop on right now before I get out of the habit completely.

This week she has asked us to share our viewer interface and any HUDs we use. In her words:

Meme Instruction: Share a screenshot of your viewer setup and/or a list of tools/HUDS you guys use to make your Second Life experiences better. Don’t forget to leave a comment in this post with a link so we can all come and stalk you. If you share a screenshot, feel free to share them in the Blog Memes flickr group.

I am using two photographs – one to show my viewer interface (above) and a separate one to show my HUDs. I did this so that the screen is less cluttered. Also, when shooting photos that show the interface and/or HUDs, the shots default to a low resolution setting. I decided just to use the raw shots, rather than going to the trouble of prettying them up. So this is exactly what came out of the can!
