And I’m not talking about moods now…

It’s rare in Second Life to see profile pictures that feature rear ends. Butts. Backsides. Bums. Call it what you want, I think a shapely rump has an aesthetic all its own. And this post is to honour the glorious gluteous maximus!

This is one of my favourite pictures of me I’ve taken. It was taken at a place called Far Away in Second Life and I love the softness of the textures used. It was a perfect backdrop for a shot of me from behind…yet without seeing my face, I feel I am reflecting my wonder at the simple beauty around me.

This photo was my profile picture for quite a while. While my face is shown, the story is told in my posture and the gentle curves displayed.

And this final shot…truly a “shameless ass pic”, was inspired by my boyfriend’s reaction to this apron. Who says that kitchens are just for cooking? 😉 While this photograph never actually made it to my profile, it was one of the most commented on photos on my Facebook page.

I love exploring different dimensions in my photography. To be able to tell a story without relying on facial expressions. Poses – the body language of Second Life – help me to write new chapters each time I turn my avatar around for the camera.

I’ve officially set up shop in Second Life with a showroom on the Dolce Vita sim. It’s in a pretty shopping district set up around Intimate Moments Ballroom. I spent the weekend setting up the displays, creating an information giver and it even has a bell you can press to IM me 🙂 Special thanks to my friend, Romeo, who helped line up my displays (since I’m building-challenged, to say the least!)

In The Sea I See Myself

Creating a profile picture, for me, is about creating a mood. Even though people are more disposed to being happy or sad, we all go through different moods. None of us is one-dimensional; we have many facets, although we often don’t show them to those around us. I change my profile picture often – it reflects who I am at that moment in time.

A lot of my profile pictures may seem to be sadder than I really am. That is largely because, in my opinion, the smile animations in Second Life look…well, a little goofy 😀 This photograph, for instance, elicited a comment from a friend of, “Aw, Peep, tell me your troubles.”

In fact, when I took the photo, I was trying to portray deep thought. I wasn’t sad, but I was immersed in my own world at the time. I guess I fell a little short with that one.

Another picture I took was to show the carefree, playful side of me. This one, I believe, hit the mark.

This one hasn’t made my profile (yet) but it’s a photo I took for my Second Life boyfriend. I think it shows more than one mood – longing, lightness, joy. All things I feel for him.

The sea is not just stormy, quiet or dark. It is also the playground of dolphins and whales, the waves dancing beneath the breeze.

I am all of these…and more.
