What an honour! This week Berry has made it possible for us to travel the grid with CEO of Linden Labs, Rodvik Linden (aka, Rod Humble). She said she did this because she likes goofy stuff; I think she really did it so she could mark the “Dance with a Linden and/or Hamlet” item off her Bucket List 😉 Whatever her reasons, this has got to be one of the silliest – and most fun – memes she’s done. I have giggled my way through the photos on Flickr and the few other blogs I have read. I can’t wait to read the rest!

Before I start my day with Rod, here’s what we are supposed to do:

Meme Instructions: Pick up a Flat Rodvik Linden from my marketplace store for free. (Or make your own using my image or your own image of Rodvik.) Wear or rez him as you travel the grid. Take him to places you think he might not have seen yet and show him a good time. Don’t forget to leave a link to your post or images in the comments of this post so we can all come by and see where you took him!

My first stop with Rod was the Love Donna Flora event. We paused in the lovely courtyard at the landing point to take the photo above, but as we started down the hill toward the stalls, I thought I heard him mumble something about the lag, so I tucked him back into my inventory. I was happily shopping and didn’t hear another word from him until I passed the Poet’s Heart booth when I swear he whispered, “You look lovely in pink but I think you would look better in yellow.”

So I bought it 😉 And headed home with Rod.

I’m not sure why so many people who have taken Rod out for the day have said he doesn’t talk to them. I couldn’t seem to get him to shut up! When we arrived back at my home, Rod wanted to see everything at once – in fact, he was so impatient he climbed onto my shoulders for a better view (and no, I did NOT peek to see what he was wearing under his toga o.O). Talk about demanding! As I struggled to hold him up while perching precariously on top of the highest hill on the island, I was shocked when he started jumping up and down and pointing toward the cove, yelling, “Oh! There! I want to try that! Take me on a ride, Peep!”

I thought he meant the sailboat. But when we arrived at the dock, he passed it by and ran straight to…

…the friggin’ laser shark! I shook my head and with a sigh, climbed on, skirt and all, taking off on a trip around the island. I wasn’t sure if Rod was enjoying the ride or not – all I could hear him say was, “Glub, splutter, cough!” I admit that I giggled a bit, but I think the sound of the waves washing over Rod probably drowned out my twittering. I thought I finally had the upper hand, until we rounded the corner of the island and suddenly the drag on the shark seemed less. Peering over to my right, what did I see?

Egads! Rod can walk on water! Of course, with those shoes, he may have actually been skiing, but still, I was brought back to the reality that a Linden really can do anything he wants in Second Life. Well, at least Rod can!

Having had about enough, I headed back to shore. Shaking my head at the powers of Flat Rod, I started giving him gentle hints that it was time for him to go. He looked at me, eyes darkening, and leaned in toward me. OMG! He isn’t expecting a kiss goodnight is he? Instead, he cleared his throat and whispered, “I have heard of this special attachment you have. It is famous across the grid. Could I see it and even, possibly try it on?”

Sighs. I guess even a Linden can’t have an Ultra Rare 7Seas Fishing Cyber Ducky without working for it…or having it given to him.

And I didn’t. Hint all he wants, he can see the duck, even touch the duck, but never will I part with my sweet CD!
