I didn’t blog yesterday because I was getting ready for a big night – I was prepping to complete one of the items on my Bucket List: I DJ’d in Second Life. I did my audition at Breaking The Rules, the club where I have hosted since it opened. My set ran from 2am – 4am SLT, so I was thrilled to have around 20 people stay awake for my set! I still don’t know if my audition was successful and I’ll earn my DJ tags, but I had a blast, once I managed to wrangle the butterflies and figure out how not to trip over my tongue 😉

I have to say that this photo shows exactly how I felt today – exhausted! I was so pumped after my set finished that I had a hard time sleeping. But I feel very proud that I overcame my fear and actually did it. I also want to thank all of my friends who came out to see me – for most of them it was very, very late, and they stayed awake to support me 🙂 I also want to give special thanks to Kaos, who wouldn’t let me “think about it” and gently pushed me into actually doing it. Hugs and ty, Bubby!

Update: I was working on this post as I was heading into the club to host my normal midnight set. The DJ overslept, so I got to take off my training wheels…I’m officially a DJ! Woot!

Getting Stuck At Scribbled Hearts, Or How To Explore A Sim And NOT Ruin Your Shoes!

I promised a few days ago I would go back to Scribbled Hearts to explore the sim. Since I needed to test out the “fix” I applied to Fernando to make sure he wouldn’t have another meltdown, I decided to head back over and fulfill that promise. As I was wandering around, shooting photos, a little story developed in my head. My apologies – this is going to be a long post with quite a few photos. I am going to attempt to use a “cut” for the first time so this doesn’t clog the feeds, or if you’re on my blog’s home page, you don’t have to follow my tale to the end without clicking into the post 😉

Oh no! My teleporter is broken, the only taxi in sight looks like it has come out of the back end of a Demolition Derby and I’m in a “no coverage area” for my mobile! This must be a Windows phone 😦

I guess I’m stuck here for a while. Maybe I’ll wander around and see what might keep my interest. Of course, I’m wearing heels on the one day I have to walk…sighs.

I mentioned yesterday (a couple of times, I think) just how much I love the new Jade skin from PXL Creations. I have found my new skin to live in! Well, I have found two. Yesterday I was sporting the Sunkissed version and today I’m wearing my “beachy” tone – Olive. I was seriously tempted by the Natural, as well, but hey, while my dreams may not fall out of my pockets, for some reason my Lindens seem to 😉 Maybe someday I’ll spring for that shade, but for now, I’m thrilled with the two I have!

I also mentioned yesterday that I’ve been having problems with my computer – it just spontaneously shuts down and reboots, almost always while I’m in Second Life. The photo from yesterday was a one-shot deal – something I never do. But right after I took that picture, my computer decided it was going to play its little trick on me and since it was the third time, I decided to pack it in. Fortunately, it was usable, but I still wasn’t happy about it!

Last night, with some much appreciated help, I put poor Fernando through some rigourous testing and tried a couple of fixes, then headed back into Second Life to see if he would hold out on me. I spent an hour and a half putting him through his paces – I cranked my graphics settings to Ultra and got a little snap happy. I took 80 photos, adjusting location, windlight and angles and he didn’t crash once! I won’t be convinced he’s completely well until I’ve spent at least two hours in Second Life without a shut down, but at least I was able to breathe a little easier knowing he had made it that far.
