Bali reBourne

Bali External 1

It’s been a hectic day. I woke up to a failed external hard drive – the one I store my music for DJing on – and I had a set to do tonight. As I was frantically trying to find some music so I didn’t have to give up my slot, I checked my email and found an offline message asking me if I would like to review the newest realease from reBourne. I immediately began salivating – I have long been a huge fan of Danny Bourne’s work and I was going to do this, come hell or broken hard drive!

After securing a new drive, transferring what music I had on my desktop computer and loading my SAM, I headed in world with a couple of hours to spare before I had to DJ. I tp’d directly to the model of Bali. Before the skybox even rezzed fully, I was gasping in awe. You see, I fell in love with Danny’s The Dome last year at the Home & Garden Expo and I honestly didn’t think he could top it. I actually made more than one visit to see it, dragging along a builder friend at one point to “ooh” and “ahh” over that scrumptious abode. Sadly, it wasn’t within my prim budget and I had to pass it up. But I knew one day I wanted to own a reBourne home.

Once the house rezzed completely (and rather quickly) I began taking in the details. The shimmering pool, the tranquility of the setting, the Balinese influence on the more modern interpretation – I just allowed myself the luxury of camming around the house, getting a feel for it. And then I started noticing the details. The perfection of the mosaic tiles lining the pool, the magnificent texturing of the rocks and stones, the hard lines of the roof softened by the shingles and canopies. Everywhere I looked, there was something else to make my breath catch in my throat. I was totally enchanted.

The Flat Rodvik Linden Meme – He Ain’t Heavy

Rod and Peep go to Love Donna Flora
Rod and Peep go to Love Donna Flora

What an honour! This week Berry has made it possible for us to travel the grid with CEO of Linden Labs, Rodvik Linden (aka, Rod Humble). She said she did this because she likes goofy stuff; I think she really did it so she could mark the “Dance with a Linden and/or Hamlet” item off her Bucket List 😉 Whatever her reasons, this has got to be one of the silliest – and most fun – memes she’s done. I have giggled my way through the photos on Flickr and the few other blogs I have read. I can’t wait to read the rest!

Before I start my day with Rod, here’s what we are supposed to do:

Meme Instructions: Pick up a Flat Rodvik Linden from my marketplace store for free. (Or make your own using my image or your own image of Rodvik.) Wear or rez him as you travel the grid. Take him to places you think he might not have seen yet and show him a good time. Don’t forget to leave a link to your post or images in the comments of this post so we can all come by and see where you took him!

My first stop with Rod was the Love Donna Flora event. We paused in the lovely courtyard at the landing point to take the photo above, but as we started down the hill toward the stalls, I thought I heard him mumble something about the lag, so I tucked him back into my inventory. I was happily shopping and didn’t hear another word from him until I passed the Poet’s Heart booth when I swear he whispered, “You look lovely in pink but I think you would look better in yellow.”

So I bought it 😉 And headed home with Rod.

When A Pixie Meets A Chipmunk

Yes, today I’ve got something just a little different! On Saturday, my good friend, Hope Seranade, followed me DJing at Breaking The Rules. From the moment she started speaking, we knew something was very, very wrong, yet very, very hysterical 😀 Somehow, some pixies – or chipmunks – had found their way into her SAM, and she sounded like…well, click play on the video to hear it yourself! By her third voice-over, I was in tears of laughter, but somehow managed to remember to grab my phone and record this momentous occasion. If you listen closely, you can hear me giggling at the end of the recording. Thankfully, I managed to press stop before I snorted! You can view on youtube here.

When I told Hope I had recorded it, she was appalled, but it seems that word of my treachery spread, and I was asked to share it on Facebook. So, this morning, I set out to create a video. After almost three hours of trial and error, I managed to capture the slides AND the audio, convert it to an .avi file and upload it. It was a LOT of work, but just listening to it – and knowing that anyone who stumbles across it can view it – made it all worth it.

Here’s to you, Hope…my homage to you in all of your pixified-glory. Alvin ain’t got nuthin on you 😉
