The quote in the photo is from the widely-panned movie, “The Beach”, starring Leonardo DiCaprio. How anything starring Leo could be a flop is nearly inconceivable, but I guess a story about a backpacker in Thailand searching for paradise with a map given to him by Daffy Duck, while avoiding marijuana-growing natives and a group of travelers who expect him and his buddies to follow social norms just might be a stretch. All that said, the quote is memorable and more than that, it speaks to me.
I am a bit of a loner. I enjoy my solitude and my own company. I can find endless ways to entertain myself without the intrusion of others. But there is something about those special moments when you feel like you belong – whether it be in a group, a relationship, or an activity. I can recall times when I felt a kinship with family, friends and lovers. Sometimes when I am feeling lonely in my solitude I travel back to those moments and find my Paradise, once again.
And no one can ever take that away from me.
