A while back, I lamented the fact that I have been feeling seasonally confused. Living in Australia, winter and summer are flipped from the seasons in the northern hemisphere, so when the woolens come out in Second Life, I’m ready to pull out the shorts, tank tops and thongs. My blogger mate, Wendz, is in the same situation since she lives in is from the land of luaus and hula skirts. She and I went back and forth on the subject in posts and comments and a challenge sprung from the BBQ briquettes!

So, here is the challenge:

Take a photo (or several) of a reminder of summer in December. Whether that is the season you experience or it is but a distant memory, show us what summer is like to you in December. Tell a story or just post the pics – it’s entirely up to you. Please leave a link in the comments of this post so I can come and check out your summery goodness!

I don’t surf in real life, even though I live relatively near the beach, but hanging 10 while showing off more skin than I have any right to in a bikini sounds perfectly summery to me!

And when the sun sets, paddling in to shore with a pinkish tinge to my skin seems like the absolute best way to end a summer’s day.

Another Monday, another Meme I wasn’t going to do. Not because I thought it was too hard, but because I didn’t think it applied to me. lol well, it seems there are geeks, and then there are GEEKS…

1. What do you consider yourself to be? Geek? Nerd? Dork? None of the above? All of the above? Of the three I would consider myself a dork. I’m not into video games (SL excepted), comic books, the periodical table nor am I a Mensa member. I am quirky and clumsy. My ex-husband told me I was the only person who could trip on dry concrete o.O

2. What was the first computer you ever owned? The first one I personally owned on my own was a Tandy 386 (I think). To be honest, I can’t really remember. However, I can tell you the names of every computer I’ve owned in the last 10 years (Raoul, Rod, Reg, Baby, Fernando and Esteban). See? I told you I was quirky 😀

3. When and how did you first get on the internet? Compuserve and AOL. A long time ago lol

4. Which geek fandom do you subscribe to? I don’t. I’m really not into science fiction or games so there’s nothing for me to obsess about. Unless shoes count.

5. Star Trek or Star Wars? Probably Star Trek, but I limit that to The Next Generation. Picard is sexy, ok? 😉

6. How Geeky Are You? lol this is what made me laugh. I took the test and my score was… 80%!!!! And I giggled at the message I received:

Smartypants! Why are you mucking about with stupid personality quizzes instead of solving the world’s energy problems and genetically engineering flies that can find their way around windows?

Me? I’d rather go cook up a lil something for Jean-Luc…he must be tired of replicator food by now 😉

Beyond Self

Ugh. I wasn’t going to do this meme. I was firmly convinced that I would tuck it in the “too hard basket” and let it rot. I’ve done that a couple of times with Miss Berry’s Monday Memes and I’ve felt guilty each time I have skipped one. Not because I skipped it, but because I allowed it to sit in that ugly basket that clutters a dusty and dark corner of my mind.

I actually started to write this yesterday, going so far as to copy the questions into a post, but then I stopped. Self-examination is never easy and yesterday I was having a blue day. Looking into myself and facing my faults wasn’t going to happen. It was easier to curl up on the couch with my cat and my Kindle and play Scarlett.

But this morning, armed with a cup of tea and a more positive outlook, here I sit. I’m still not entirely comfortable with my answers, but here they are. After all, tomorrow came and it is another day.
