Desert Retreat

1 Moroccan Delights

I have been a bit remiss about blogging the gorgeous items for this month’s offerings from The Challenge. I love the items for this round, themed “Moroccan.” The rich textures and jewel tones give a punch to any setting. But I have had difficulty capturing their glorious beauty.

I think I finally hit on a setting that shows off the lovely furniture from Shabby Tabby within the confines of the [hate this] gazebo. This is no mirage; this little refuge from the desert heat can be yours.

Stop by the Shabby Tabby and [hate this] stores to create your own desert sanctuary, or just add a pop of colour to any home.

Pretty stuff I’m showing off:

Marsha, Marsha, Where’s Alice?

1 Marsha, Marsha, Where's Alice

Amazingly, I got another chance to do a shoot with Rwah last night. This time I was only supposed to be the model; I had no plans to actually take photos, having given up on that earlier when my creativity took flight. But Rwah is such a wizard at setting scenes that I couldn’t help but snap off a single shot.

Yep, you read that right – this is the only photo I took. As I explained to Rwah, “Peep Pictaking 101” is to take 20 or more shots using different Windlight settings and hoping for the best. Imagine my surprise when I took a look at this photo and decided it wasn’t half bad.

Perhaps some of Rwah’s magic is rubbing off on me; I have never before been happy enough with a single shot to publish it. A quick tweak to give it a faded Polaroid feel and I was set.

We are showing off the “Wish you were here” house from Scarlet Creative for this month’s Collabor88. While this round of “Milkshakes and Turntables” is more of a 50’s theme, the house reminded us both of The Brady Bunch. I never understood how an architect would build a house that had only two bedrooms for six kids to share, yet could afford a live-in housekeeper.

So in answer to the question, Marsha, Alice is tucked away in her private suite, laughing that you and your sisters are crowded into a single room, fighting over the bathroom with your brothers 😉

You can pop over to Rwah’s blog to check out the credits for the set and her outfit and to see her interpretation of the scene.

Bike Love Ă  trois

1 Bike love a trois A

Yesterday was a first for me. I got to collaborate with another blogger to do a photo shoot. If you read my blog regularly you know of my respect and adoration for my friend Rwah’s work. Her blog was one of the first to go on my blog roll, in fact. We had been talking about doing a photo shoot together and yesterday when she IM’d me and told me she had to get a post done for Seven Emporium’s Fifty Linden Friday offering, we got the chance.

We really did collaborate on the set up, which I loved. She had the concept and provided the setting, we worked together on styling our outfits, I found the pose and provided the eye candy on the bike 😉

You really need to check out Rwah’s post not only for her credits, but for her amazing photo. I find it astonishing that while we were photographing the same scene, we came up with completely different shots – camera angle, lighting, even formatting. I really want to do more with Rwah, not just because I can learn from seeing how she works, but because it is just plain fun. The banter between Grumper and The Donkey Lady made it worth the time in itself!

She mentioned another possible shoot we could do together. Time zones are a hindrance since we live on opposite sides of the world but I hope we can bring you more of this alliance of two friends with totally different styles bringing together our love of photography and fun.
